Kyle Vincent Jelly

Kyle Vincent Jelly

Kyle Vincent Jelly, friend to all & father figure to many, unexpectedly passed away on June 22nd, 2023, at the age of 55 after a battle with depression. He is survived by his kids, Skyler (and Ayaka) Jelly and Amber Jelly (and Aimer Ocampo), his partner Rose Pappin, and her children Michael, Michelle, and Philip. Kyle was also survived by his father Darrell Jelly, brother Shawn Jelly, and sister Sherrie Boilard.

Daredevil, Wistful Dreamer, Proud Papa — Kyle Jelly, aka “Jammer,” was born and raised in Kirkland Lake before moving to Elliot Lake. He later moved to Toronto to be close to his kids to co-parent with ex-wife Donna Parsons, but Elliot Lake was always calling him home.

My dad was a lot of things, many of them contradictory; loud and boisterous; quiet and pensive; happy-go-lucky and morose; gregarious and reserved; free spirited yet unwavering in his commitment to fatherhood. If life was a painting, my father only painted in bold strokes. His first love in life was music, and he found a kindred spirit in anyone who shared his passion for rock and roll, sports, barbeque, motorcycles, or mischief.

As a father, he knew how to make the most of every second spent together. He didn’t teach me how to ride a bike, but he did take me to my first rock concert, my first tattoo, my first baseball game, and my first vacation outside the country. He was unapologetically outspoken in the love and pride he carried for us, as well as his extended & found family.

If you’re familiar with Kyle Jelly & the infectious joy he exuded, this announcement will likely come as a shock. He was a kind, larger-than-life character whose instincts were always to help others in need. Unfortunately, people with big hearts are often deeply sensitive. To him, there was beauty in the temporal; in live music, flowers blooming for a single season, brief yet exceptional lives.

And while we wish with every fibre of our being that he was still with us, we take comfort in knowing that days prior to his passing, he shared that he couldn’t deny the abundance of love and support in his life.

Kyle Jelly will be missed deeply and persistently by all those whose lives he touched.

His family has already held a celebration of life to commemorate his life. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations made in Kyle’s honour to his favourite charity, “Make-A-Wish Foundation,”and continue his life’s passion of making dreams come true.

Kyle will always be remembered for the great person and kindred spirit he was. I met Kyle at Davies Harley-Davidson back in 2004, where he had a contagious energy that made each day exciting.
Over the years, Kyle and I shared a passion for music. He supported his son Skyler in his early days of learning to play guitar. Kyle would often sit through lessons, ensuring his son would learn classic rock while arguing in good fun with me as I taught. Skyler became a heck of a guitarist and as I look back, much of that credit can be given to Kyle.
In addition to being a great friend and a devoted parent, Kyle will be remembered as a generous, kind, unique character who lived his life to the fullest. You will always be missed and rest in peace, my friend.
