It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Elaine
on June 29, 2023 in her 79 th year.
Peacefully on June 29, 2023, and with family at her side, Barbara Elaine
Merkir earned her wings.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Nick.
Elaine was born in Brantford on September 17,1943 to Charles and Martha
Killeleagh.
Daughters Kim (Dom) Caminiti and Barb (Jan) Kouyzer.
Son Glenn
Sisters Beverley and Liz, brother Richie and Clint (2009)
Grandson’s, Vince, Christopher, Nicholas, Colin and granddaughter Taylor.
Elaine worked at Vickermans, and later Brant Foods for many years and
formed many friendships with colleagues. After retiring she valued her time
shared with Pat and Doreen over weekly tea and chat sessions.
Elaine and Nick enjoyed holidays in Florida and Sauble Beach with the kids
and travelling to Saskatchewan to visit Nick’s family.
She was a seasoned card player who relished beating her opponents, and
also enjoyed the bingo hall and casino the odd time.
Elaine was a strong family matriarch who cherished her extended family
and friends, as they did her. The family would like to extend to all those
special people an invitation to a Celebration of her life to be announced at a
later date.
Cremation has taken place, and following Elaine’s wishes, a private family
service will be held.
