Brodigan, Michael Patrick
Michael Patrick Brodigan
May 4, 1935 – March 2, 2015
Much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Michael passed away peacefully in his sleep, with his wife Louise by his side, after a 7 year battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
Michael was born May 4, 1935 in Clones, County Monaghan, Ireland beloved son of the late Gerard and Kathleen Brodigan. Brother to Sean, Maria and the late Pather, Marcel and Claire, brother-in-law to Anne, Irene, Susan and the late Peter.
Father to David (Sandy), Michael (Diane), Paul, John (Christine), Onah (Jason) and grandfather to Matt, Sean, Hayden, Natalie, Fiona and Meghan.
Uncle to Ian, Catriona, Andrew, Patricia, Gary, Catherine, Gerard, Ashling, Justin, James, Dereck, Kevin, Aiden, Kim, Sarah and Shawna.
Michael lived his life to the fullest. He fell for the love of his life Louise Pedreschi in Dublin Ireland and then quickly followed her to Canada in 1957. They were married on St. Patrick’s Day March 17, 1958 (57 years). His great passions were his family, his work, reading, history, flying, cottage life and painting. He was a prolific painter creating thousands of paintings in his life time and was always quick to give them away to family and friends. Michael was known for his great generosity which impacted so many people throughout his lifetime. His life’s work in engineering, development and construction can be seen in many buildings and construction projects throughout Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Ireland. He had what he described as a “dry laconic wit.” That means you had to be quick to catch his very dry sense of humour.
A “Celebration of Michael’s Life” will be held on Sunday March 15, 2015 between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm at Credit Valley Golf and Country Club, 2500 Old Carriage Road, Mississauga.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that a donation be made in memory of Michael to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
Dear Louise, Just came across your info. sorry to here about Mr. Brodigan, and see he was from clones and had Lewy body Dementias, My sister Sue Fay has the same now and she lives in Knox, Scotshouse, Clones. Her husband was Terence Fay, born 1938. my sister also has Parkinisim and she seams to be getting worse, I was just back for 2 weeks in June and it is so hard on family [ I live in Boston Ma. for 57 yrs.]
Wondering what medicine that your husband was taking and did it help? the keep changing her medication and nothing seams to help her, it seams she has panic attacks and gets very worried about everything and has lost interest in TV and reading.
Would like to talk to you some time, my e mail is [email protected], you can send me your phone # and I can call you. Hope you all are doing well, it is hard to loose a family member.
