Andrew Robertson

Burlington, Ontario – Andrew “Andy” Robertson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 2, 1940, in Harthill, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Andy’s intelligence, thoughtfulness, and friendly nature endeared him to all who knew him. Andy immigrated as a teenager to Canada, where he earned a B.A of Physics and PhD in Nuclear Physics from McMaster University along with a Teaching Certificate from the University of Toronto. He began his career as a teacher at Hill Park High School in Hamilton, Ontario. His dedication to education extended beyond the classroom as he served as an educational advisor to the Government of St. Vincent in the West Indies. His scientific expertise found a home at DSMA Atcon Ltd in Toronto, where he worked as a Nuclear Physicist. Andy enjoyed coaching Burlington youth soccer teams as well as the Burlington United Women’s soccer team. He was an avid supporter of the Glasgow Rangers Football Club where he enjoyed cheering them on with other fellow supporters. Andy’s legacy is lovingly carried on by his wife, Lynne Robertson, and their children: Lisa Smith, John Robertson, and Kristin Robertson. His role as a father-in-law to Howard Smith was filled with mutual respect and affection. Andy’s grandchildren, Blair, Kaelah, and Zachary Smith, will definitely miss him. Andrew Robertson, you will be deeply missed, but your spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those you’ve touched. A celebration of life will be planned for the future.
