In Loving Memory of

Breanne Selena Hogan-Asante

2001 – 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Breanne Selena Hogan-Asante, who passed away surrounded by her loved ones at Hamilton General Hospital on January 9, 2026, at the age of 24.

Breanne was a beloved and devoted mummy to her cherished son, Sterling, who was the centre of her world. She was a truly wonderful mother — strong, loving, and deeply committed to giving Sterling a life filled with adventure, opportunity, and joy. She loved spending time with him fishing and camping, creating memories rooted in laughter, curiosity, and the outdoors.

She will be remembered as a beautiful soul — strong-willed and stubborn in the way that spoke to her determination, yet endlessly kind, loving, and compassionate. Those who knew her will remember her warmth, her strength, and her unwavering love for those closest to her.

Breanne was the cherished daughter of Erin and Vernell and the treasured granddaughter of Herbert Walmsley and Breanne’s beloved “Momma,” Heather. She was a loving sister to Liam, beloved niece to Ryan and many aunts and uncles, a cousin to Scarlett and Owen, and will be deeply missed by her many friends whose lives she touched in countless ways.

She loved school and took great pride in her education. A dedicated and driven student, Breanne graduated with honours from the Registered Practical Nursing program at McMaster University. Her commitment to caring for others continued as she was accepted, with a scholarship, into the Nurse Practitioner Program.

A devoted Catholic, her faith was an important part of her life and guided her values of kindness and love. Outside of her studies and motherhood, she had a deep love for music — especially R&B and hip-hop — and enjoyed singing. She also pursued modeling, embracing self-expression with confidence and grace.

Breanne’s passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who loved her. She will be remembered for her strength, her love, her beauty, and the fierce devotion she had for her son.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date with details to be announced.

I can hardly believe I’m writing condolences for someone so young and full of life and ambitions.
I had the pleasure of meeting my classmate, who we all affectionately called “Bree,” during nursing school. She was such a calm, humble soul, always willing to help others.
Beautiful Bree, rest in perfect peace. 🤍
I’m praying that God strengthens your family during this time, especially your son. It was so evident how deeply you loved him. 💔🙏🏽

Breanne and I grew up together—she was my next-door neighbour and a very good friend. Although we lost touch as our lives changed and we became young adults with families of our own, She is in my thoughts, and my prayers go out to Erin, Vern, and the entire family.

Breanne was always a shining light. She was constantly singing, making people smile, and giving me so many laughs and unforgettable memories. From the Sound of Music festival, to all the playdates growing up, to the backyard jam sessions—I’ll always remember her singing Halo by Beyoncé.

Breanne, now you’re shining up above us with your beautiful halo. Your legacy lives on through your son. You will never be forgotten. Rest easy 🤍🪽

Rest in paradise, beautiful ❤️

You are such Bree Selena Hogan-Asante

You gained your angel wings too soon.
You were also someone I could ask advice for. You endured such heart ache in your life, but always came out so much stronger.

Your son, is so blessed to have had you as his momma. You are his rock, his biggest advocate and biggest fan. You ALWAYS made sure he had everything and anything he could possible want. You made sure his room was the best room, any son could ask for. You taught him so many things, and showed absolute love and devotion to him.

Seeing you absolutely destroy nursing school, and come out with perfect marks, with your son by your side, is truly inspiring.
You always, made the impossible, possible.

We will all make sure, Sterling knows who is momma is and how strong and powerful she is.
God will take care of you now.

Until we meet again ❤️

Rest in peace, beautiful girl.🙏 My heart is breaking for the loss of such a young, and innocent life. As I read uncle RyRy’s (Ryan) post on FB I started to cry and called him immediately. Only for him to confirm that, in fact, you had passed. I have known you since birth and have so many happy memories with you, Momma, Maddi and Deven, your 2 second cousins 💖 that I will cherish for a lifetime. I remember Erin and Sam practicing feeding, changing diapers, and bathing Deven in preparation for your birth as he’s only seven months older. For the last several years I have watched you flourish and excel in life on Facebook as you moved from Peterborough. A few years ago you called to chat and catch up and your last words to me were that you missed and loved me! You were so wanted and loved by so many Bree, thank you for sharing your bright light with us. The morning after your passing a pure white pigeon visited my bird feeder for the first time. I instantly knew that it was you and you had come to let me know that you were okay and not to worry, or be sad. The pigeon is now visiting my feeder daily 🙌. My heart hurts for your beautiful son Sterling, your mom Erin, uncle Ryan and your momma Heather who I’m sure is shattered as you were her everything. I bet your poppa Pat was waiting to greet you with open arms and take you fishing. Sore high beautiful and guide Sterling from above as I know you will ❤️💔🙏😇🕊✨️We love you Aunt Sue, Maddi and Dev 💞
