PARSONAGE, Brian Francis

PARSONAGE, Brian Francis

1939-2025

Brian Francis Parsonage, affectionately known as Bri to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at the Marotta Family Hospital in St. Catharines, Ontario on December 13, 2025. Born on June 26, 1939, in Plymouth, Devon, England, Bri was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend who filled the lives of those around him with laughter, wisdom, and an unwavering sense of adventure.

Bri’s journey began as a proud member of the Royal Navy, where he served with distinction in the Admiralty from the tender age of 16. His dedication to his country was only matched by his love for his family, and with them, he embarked on a new chapter by immigrating to Canada. It was there, alongside his devoted wife Diana and his cherished mother, Emily Louise Parsonage (nee Butler), that he laid down new roots and pursued his passion for precision machining.

As the founder and owner of Precision Machine Tool Service Ltd., Bri became a respected figure in the field. His craftsmanship was not just a profession but a calling, and he took immense pride in the business he built from the ground up. His work ethic and innovative spirit were an inspiration to many, leaving a legacy of excellence that will long be remembered by his colleagues and competitors alike.

Bri was a man of many interests, with a particular fondness for books, antiquing, and history. His knowledge was vast and varied, and he could often be found engrossed in a good book or adding a unique treasure to his antique collection. Animals held a special place in his heart, and he cherished the companionship of his pets throughout his life. Family was the cornerstone of Bri’s world, and he relished the moments spent on nature walks and enjoying Cornish pasties, a nod to his English heritage. His daughter Melanie Rutherford, son-in-law Robert, and son Phillip Parsonage will fondly remember these simple yet precious times. His cherished grandson, William Rutherford, will carry forward the tales of his grandfather’s humour and the many stories that could turn any frown upside down. Bri’s sense of humour was indeed one of his most wonderful attributes. He had an innate ability to lift the spirits of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His storytelling was legendary, and his quick wit could light up a room, leaving a trail of smiles in his wake.

As we bid farewell to Brian Francis Parsonage, we celebrate a life well-lived, a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication. He will be profoundly missed but never forgotten, as his stories, values, and the joy he brought to our lives continue to echo through the generations. Bri’s journey through life was marked by courage, laughter, and an indomitable spirit that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to all of the doctors and nurses in Nephrology and Palliative Care at the Marotta Family Hospital. We are forever grateful for your kindness and support. We also wish to warmly thank all friends and extended family members for their comforting words and genuine acts of kindness in this difficult time.

It was Brian’s wish to be cremated. A family inurnment will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Canadian Mesothelioma Foundation (CMF) and the Alzheimer Society of Ontario.
