CLAYTON, Ryan James
Suddenly, on Sunday, August 5, 2012, in his 37th year.
Forever loved by mother Norma Coupland and step-father Bob, brother Todd Clayton (Melanie), father Roger Clayton (Susan). Loving memories of Ryan will be always cherished by his Uncle Dave and Aunt Chris Looker, Aunt Elly and Uncle Paul Turnbull, cousins Susan Looker (Tyler Coultis), Brendan Looker (Leah Micallef), and Lindsey La Belle. He will be sadly missed by the many family friends and co-workers who cared for him so much.
Ryan was a wonderful young man, well-liked by all who knew him. Polite, personable and well spoken, he made friends so easily and made people feel good when he was around. Sadly, in spite of his constant efforts over the years, he wasn’t able to overcome the addiction that finally took him. He touched many, many lives and will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved him.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family memorial at a later date.
Donations in Ryan’s memory to The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), or St. Michael’s Homes, Toronto, would be appreciated.
My beautiful boy, your long struggle is over and you are now at peace. We have a special bond that will never be broken, not even in death. You never ended a phone call or a text without saying “Love you”.
From me to you – one final, loving and heartfelt “muah”.
I love you and will miss you always. Mum.
Dear Norma,
My heart missed a beat when Vivian told me the news a little while ago. I can only imagine your anguish, but I know that you’re facing it with your natural poise and calm. Being your son, he must have been a wonderful young man, and you will hold on, like we all do, to the magical minutes, days, weeks and months that we get to spend with our children, times like no other.
Look after yourself.
Joy
Norma, My deepest sympathies for your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

Dear Norma,
I saw this poem today, after we spoke and it made me think of you and I wanted to share it… “I am sending a dove to heaven with a parcel on its wings. Be careful when you open it, it’s full of beautiful things. Inside are a million kisses, wrapped in a million hugs, to say how much I miss you and to send you all my love. I hold you close within my heart and there you will remain, to walk with me throughout my life, until we meet again.”
One day at a time my dear sister, and remember Ryan’s words…
Love, Elly & Paul
That’s a beautiful poem, Elly, thank you. And, yes, I do read over Ryan’s words to me several times a day. It helps.
Norma and Bob,
Jim and I are in Oregon and heard the heart-breaking news. So sorry and we hope that you are doing all right and being gentle with yourself as you grieve your huge loss. Terri, thanks for your words. It means so much to me that in his last days Ryan had the opportunity to work in a great place, and to spend time with and share with wonderful people like you, who cared about him. I will forever be thankful for that.
While the loss of a loved one is never easy, even when expected, it is most difficult when they are taken from us suddenly and at such a young age. Ryan’s passing, for this reason, is especially hard.
Eugene and I offer our deepest sympathy and condolences. We hope the outpouring of love, sympathy and acts of kindness you may receive in response to this terrible loss, offer some measure of comfort.
We pray for God’s blessing on you and your family. May you find the strength and courage to move forward with peace.
Love, Deborah and Eugene Serravalle
