MACKINNON (WHITESIDE), Holly Anne

With family by her side, Holly MacKinnon of 71 passed away on October 25th, 2024. She was born to the late Donald & Lois Whiteside, April 25th, 1953, in North Bay, Ontario where she graduated from Chippewa Secondary School.

Holly is cherished by her devoted partner, John, who brought her immense joy and companionship over the years. She is fondly remembered by Terry, with whom she shared many significant moments and experiences; their shared history remains a part of her story. Holly is also remembered by John’s family, who welcomed her with open arms, and by Terry’s family (Krystel and Blaire Mackinnon), who shared many memories.

Holly is treasured by her siblings, Chris Whiteside (Stephanie) Donna Alkins, Tim Whiteside (Kym) and their children, Ashley Alexander (Matt), Lindsay McCool, Jacob Barber (Jordanne Christie), Heidi Barber (Shane Howard), Wren, Sean and David.  She will forever be loved by her children, Cindy Smith (Blaides) (Len Blaides) (Corey Smith) (Brent Galloway) of Georgetown, Ontario; Tamara Brookes (Ranger) (Bill Brookes) of North Bay, Ontario and Justin Ranger (Andrea Medeiros) (Rene Jim Ranger) of Georgetown, Ontario and will be deeply missed by her twelve grandchildren; Samuel, Joshua, Kayden, Autumn, Christian, Aaron, Annabella, Lily, Leia, April, Zachary and Brianna; beloved by Jason Blaides (Nadine), Christopher Blaides (Narda), Christina Blaides and Christon Blaides.

Holly, a cherished Lunchroom Supervisor and Emergency EA and ECE at NNDSB, wore her heart on her sleeve. Her “Big Heart” extended beyond her official duties—she knitted scarves and hats for students, radiated generosity, and offered unwavering kindness to her school family. Her passion for reading and crafting, coupled with her selfless volunteering, made her a beacon of light. It was Holly’s smile, her quirks, and her boundless compassion that truly defined her. She touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of joy and love. Though she’s no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The Celebration of Holly’s Life will be on Saturday November 23rd, 2024 @ 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Shiners Club, 1260 Brookes St. North Bay, Ontario

    Justin Tamara and Cindy along with your families I send our deepest condolences to you all. For as long as I have known you all you were part of the family. Mom always had a beautiful smile and a shoulder to lean on when needed..she will be missed by many..

    I have many memories of Holly during my childhood years when Tamara and I became close friends at a very young age. She was like a second Mom to me as we typically always hung out at Tamara’s!! Thank you for those memories and for putting up with us! To Tamara and family… my sincere condolences , I hope you all find the strength to carry you through these tough times. Rest in Peace Holly xxoo
