THOMPSON, Marlene Gloria (nee Lawrence)
On Saturday, October 19th, 2024, at the age of 92 years young, Marlene was reunited with her husband William “Bill” (1998) and her son Terry (2024). Loving mother of Bonnie Worsley and Tracy Thompson.
Cherished grandmother of Laura (Hugh), Troy (Shelly), Carri (Jerry), Holly (Rob) and Keenan. Proud great-grandmother of Alissa, Tianna, Lucius and Cade. Dear mother-in-law of Therese Thompson. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Marlene loved gathering for lunches out with the neighbour ladies and lifelong friends, “The Club Bunch”. She loved bowling, aquafit, playing cards, and going to the Casino (any Casino!). She was a Word Search professional, and an avid knitter of sweaters, winter wear, slippers, and dish cloths. She grew up near the water at the family cottage at Puslinch Lake, which inspired 3 of her brothers to build their own cottages at Southampton. Later in life she was able to enjoy spending time at her son’s cottage at Sauble Beach.
Her larger than life personality lit up the room. She was always laughing, and found such joy in the little things; drives in the country, an ice cream cone or a cold beer. We will miss her Nana jam, apple sauce and constant activity. She was a whirlwind. She has shaped all of us in different ways, and for that we are eternally grateful.
A remembrance gathering, a casual time for family and friends to share memories will be announced at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Erin Okanik, the Team at Paramed – especially Benedetta (Mom’s Favourite), Christine, Christina and Sarah, to ProResp – Scott and Jeff, to her family Doctor – Dr. Callahan and Nurse Practitioner Andrea Timmerman for their home visit, Pharmacist Nirav Patel and Dr. Pandey for their assistance and caring compassionate support throughout Mom’s journey.
