Mary Jane (Marie-Jeanne Becker) (Kuches) Kavanagh, in her 85 th year.
Mary was from Belgium and came to Canada in 1957. She was famous for her good nature, her laugh,
and for being a kind and helping person. Mary grew up helping her mom take care of her siblings, before
coming to Canada with her first husband, Philip. They worked hard to establish a life and to raise their
children in their newly chosen country. Mary had her own business for many years, before starting at
the Brantford General Hospital where she would eventually retire, and was well known by all.
Mary leaves behind her loving and devoted Husband Matt Kavanagh of 44 years. Her Children Sonja
(Tim) Kavanagh, Jim and Charlene Kuches, Debbie and Don Schroeder. Her Grandchildren Shane
Kavanagh and Leanna Frazer, Sausha Kavanagh, Christopher Frystak and Jocelyn Hett, Philip and Sam
Kuches. Her Great-Grandchildren Stella, Myra, and Baby Kuches. In Canada, her Niece Linda and Arch
Baird, her Nephews, John and Wanda Mazur, Mike and Theresa Mazur, her cousin Nicole and John
Thibeau. In Belgium, her siblings and their families, Elise, Betty, Josephine, Annie. Pre-deceased by her
parents and siblings Therese and Joseph.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the wonderful staff at the hospital for their
compassionate care. A very special thank you to Brenda Deschamps, whom she loved and who in turn
loved her.
Mary loved her family beyond anything else. She always wanted the best for us all and gave so much,
without needing anything in return except our love. May you rest in peace Mom, our supporter, our
guiding light, with your beloved Mandy in your lap once again.
Cremation will take place with a memorial date to be set when we can all safely come together, to
remember our Mary, our Mom, our Grandma.
If desired, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated. Condolences can be
shared at Tranquilitycremation.com
My condolences to the family.
She will be missed deeply by her family and friends, a truly generous soul. Family is so often defined by a mother and Mary was the dictionary perfect definition of mother. RIP to a wonderful woman
