Robert “Bob” Worthen

1946 ~ 2024

Bob passed away peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on March 17, 2024, in his 78th year. Bob was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late James Herbert Worthen and the late Nora Worthen (nee Feltmate). He attended New Glasgow schools and grew up on Summer Street with his large family before moving to Ontario as a young man. He still called Nova Scotia his home, however and made several trips east, always preferring to travel by train and see the countryside. Bob had a great sense of humour and loved making people laugh.

He also followed several major league sports and enjoyed watching the Olympic games when they were on. He was a die-hard Toronto Blue Jays and New York Rangers fan. Bob followed current affairs including politics and world news and always had insightful things to add to the conversation. He also loved animals, both cats and dogs and had many special pets over the years.

Bob is survived by his Ontario family, the Murphy’s; Darrell (Jane) and their family, Annette and Craig Adams, James and Kerri, Patricia(Teekee) and family and those that called him “Grampa”; John, Jordan, and Kerissa, who were very close to Bob for many years as an extended family. Bob will also be missed by good friends Kenny and Marcelle.

He is also survived by his brother Garnet, (Alma, NS), and sisters Maise, (Hamilton, ON), Joyce (Kevin), (Mahopac, New York) and Gloria (Kevin), (Melbourne, Australia).

Bob will also be missed by sister-in-law Margaret Worthen (New Glasgow, NS), special niece Darlene and nephew Reid who Bob stayed in regular contact with down east. Several other extended family members will also miss him.

Bob was predeceased by Jerry and Dorothy Murphy, Kim, Gerry and Shawn as well as his brother Ron Worthen.

Lots of memories with big Bob. He was always happy when I would see him and he asked about the girls. He was fun to talk to and shared many stories. Big Bob was a great man especially to the Murphy Clan. He will be missed by many ❤️
