My Way by Frank Sinatra
My Way by Frank Sinatra
And now, the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I’ll say it clear
I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain
I’ve lived a life that’s full
I traveled each and ev’ry highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way
Regrets, I’ve had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do , I saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course, each careful step along the highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way
Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
And through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way
I’ve loved, I’ve laughed and cried
I’ve had my fill, my share of losing
And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way,
“Oh, no, oh, no, not me, I did it my way”
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught
The right to say the things he feels and not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows and did it my way!
When we are faced with the reality that someone we love is gone, we mourn. We may at times feel that the world becomes heavier. However, in that mourning, we should remember the life that that special person lived. And that life lived should be remembered in a positive note.
If that person chose cremation as his final resting state, then it is inevitable that cremation services should be due given unto that person. In a service, funeral songs, poems, speeches and memorabilia are shared by friends and loved ones. This is done in order to commemorate and pay respects to that particular person.
One particular song may resonate on most of us when we remember our loved one who just passed away. And that particular song is “My Way” sung by the late Frank Sinatra.
“My Way” is a wonderful summary of how magnificent life has been in a song. If one has to look back in one’s life, then this can be the perfect song for that person. This would also be perfect if the personality of that special loved one who just passed away is someone, whom you know, is vibrant and life loving. With lines that go “I live a life that’s full”, “I faced it all, and I stood tall” and the repetitive “I did it my way” phrase that is said in every stanza, it is inevitable that this is a seamless fit of a song for that person.
Life is braved through as some of us would say. We take risk and make mistakes. We may regret some of the things we did in the past but those mistakes can teach us a thing or two. Life is never dull if we push thru these occurrences in life. And celebrating a life that is lived full is much better that a life that is linear and boring.
“My Way” is a song that depicts dignity and respect of a loved one’s life. It reminds us that no matter how life has been for us, we should never give up. We move forward and push thru.
