It is with a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Helen C. Kao on December 13, 2025, in her 93rd year of life. Born in Shanghai, China on July 27, 1932; her family migrated to Taiwan during WWII. She excelled in academics and got into the top school–University of Taiwan where she later graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. She gave birth to her wonderful daughter and son, and served as the US Base Commander Secretary in Taiwan for many years. Then, eventually immigrated to Canada with her family where she continued her secretary jobs then later joined Canada Post, until she retired.
She has lived an incredible life and will be forever missed by her family and friends.
Loving mother of Jeannie Lau (Joseph) and William Kao (Ann), grandmother to their children Lisa Lau (Mike), Jennifer Lau (Stefan), Stephanie Kao (partner Jeremy) and Rachel Kao, and great grandmother to Lisa & Mike’s daughter, Ava. She will be remembered lovingly by her siblings, nieces, nephews and friends whose lives she touched with laughter and kindness.
A funeral service will be held at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery & Crematorium (737 Dundas St E, Mississauga, ON L4Y 2B5 – Sandalwood Room with separate entrance on the right side when facing the main building) on Saturday, December 20, 2025. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, and then a funeral service (limited space) will be held at 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM. Burial will follow and reception (Congee Queen – 1911 Dundas St E Unit 17, Mississauga, ON L4X 1M1) to follow around 2:00 pm.
The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support, and kindly asks to not send flowers as there is limited space in the room where the funeral will be held.





I am so saddened with this news. I will always remember your mom for her kindness, elegance, and independence. She will be remembered always.
