James Thomas Rogers
June 29, 1947 – January 3, 2026
James Thomas Rogers passed away suddenly at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital
on January 3, 2026. The Rogers family would like to thank the hospital for their
excellent care and support during his time there.
Jim was the beloved husband of Catherine and the devoted father of his three sons,
Matthew (Erin), Alexander, and Cameron (Katie). His boys were his greatest pride and
achievement. He was also a joyful and loving grandfather to Carter and Austin, whose
energy and laughter brought him endless amusement and happiness.
Jim was the son of the late George and Mazie Rogers of Scarborough, a loving older
brother to John (Edith) and Mike (Esther) and a cherished nephew to Marj Wheatley. He
will be remembered as a loyal family man with a witty sense of humour who deeply
valued connection, tradition, and time spent with those he loved.
Jim dedicated 30 years of his professional life to Sheridan College, where he was
respected for his commitment, strong work ethic, and the many meaningful relationships
he built over the years. His career there was a great source of pride, and he touched the
lives of countless colleagues and students through his steady presence and quiet
kindness.
He held especially fond memories of growing up in Scarborough and treasured his
years with his Rovers group—friendships so strong that they continued to gather more
than 50 years later. These lifelong bonds spoke volumes about the kind of friend Jim
was: loyal, dependable, and always there when it mattered.
Outside of work and family, Jim found great joy in fishing, time spent at the cottage, and
relaxing with a nice glass of scotch—simple pleasures that brought him peace and
contentment.
Jim will be deeply missed by those closest and all who were fortunate enough to know
him. His legacy lives on through his family, his friendships, and the love he leaves
behind. A celebration of his life will be held in Oakville at a later date.

I met Jim in the fall of 1955 as a member of the 7th Scarborough West Cub Pack. We went through the cub pack then the scout troop, rover scouts and finally O.A.R.S group. We had many memories together over the years. Rest in peace my friend.
Condolences to Cathie and family. Jim, you will be missed.
