ISHMAEL, Augustus John “Ish”
John “Ish” Ishmael passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Brampton
Civic Hospital. Born in Georgetown, Guyana, John was a journalist, writer, and community
advocate who dedicated his life to public service, social justice, and addressing food
insecurity in Canada. In keeping with his wishes, a private cremation has taken place. He is
survived by his children, grandchildren, and other relatives, and will be deeply missed by
family and friends. Until we meet again.
