Indrany Sabapathy 1942 – 2025
It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Indrany Sabapathy,
who passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of December 15, 2025, in her
83rd year. She is survived by her son Sabesh and daughter-in-law Shanti.
Indrany was born in Valvettithurai, Jaffna and lived in Batticaloa, Colombo, England,
New Zealand and Toronto, Canada. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. D.S.P
Sabapathy, the beloved mother of Sabesan and the beloved aunt of Shanti
Paskaramoorthy.
She was the eldest daughter of the late Mudaliar Karthigesu – Gnanasakunthala. She
was the daughter-in-law of the late Pandithar Sabapathy & Chellamma. She was also
the stepdaughter of the late Yogambigai. She was the beloved sister of the late Dr.
Rajendran, Balendran, Mahendran, Surendran and Kulendran (Canada), Umarani (UK),
Ruparani (UK), Puvanarani (Canada), Hareendran (USA), Selvarani (UK), Gnanendran
(UK). She was the half-sister of the late Dr. Anandavel and sister-in-law of Jayarani
(VVT). She was the sister-in-law of the late M N Vivekanandan, late Navasothy, and Dr.
Thangaroopan (Canada), and the late Dr. Kunanantham. She was the beloved sister-in-
law of Dr. Indradevi (NZ), Sudantradevi (AUS), Vijayalkrishna (Canada), Gnanavathi
(USA), and Sivamanohari (UK). She was the sister-in-law of the late Muthulakshmi,
Arumuganathan and the late P. Ganeshalingham, and Wijayalakshmi (AUS).
She graduated from George Brown College Toronto as a PSW (Personal Support
Worker) and worked happily in Canada as a Nursing Assistant.
In her youth, she studied art and Carnatic music at Ramanathan College, Jaffna and
sang with her sweet voice, delighting many. During her education, she made a
significant contribution to many school events such as dance and Carnatic music,
adding pride to the college.
She will be forever missed by Sabesh, Shanti and the rest of her family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to the funeral on Monday December 22 from 1:00 PM
until the time of the cremation at 3:00 PM. The visitation will take place in the Magnolia
Chapel at St John’s Dixie Cemetery & Crematorium, 737 Dundas Street East in Mississauga at
