Barbara Coolen

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Burrill Coolen, age 83, on November 8, 2025 at her home in Mississauga.  Barbara  was born on October 3, 1942 in Montreal, Quebec.

She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, Max Coolen and her 3 children, Timothy Coolen (Grace), Holly Mackison (Steven) and Drayton Coolen (Alyson).  Barbara loved her family and will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren; Meredith, Julian, Hilary, Madeline and James, each of whom brought her immense happiness and pride.

She lived a life marked by her devotion to her faith as she was a member of Trinity Anglican Church in Port Credit for more than 50 years.  Barbara was a valued member of the Church’s Chancel Guild and received the Order of the Diocese of Toronto for her years of service to the church.

Barbara worked with PLASP Child Care services for 25 years and loved working with children in the before and after school programs and ascended to role of Program Coordinator until her retirement.

A visitation will take place from 12:30-1:30pm on Saturday, December 6th at Trinity-St. Paul Anglican Church, Port Credit, followed by a public service at 2pm.  An afternoon tea will take place immediately following the service, for those who would like to celebrate Barbara’s life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Rest in peace, Barbara. You will be missed by all who knew and loved you.

Barb was my first Area Manager at PLASP. From the moment I meet her it felt more like meeting a family member, not an employer. She was very supportive to all her staff. We missed her a lot when she retired. I remembered all her words of encouragement to this day.
    I miss her.

I met Barbara and Max at the Shamrock Bay Resort when I visited her dear friend Ann on whose deck the photo of Barb was taken and where we had many wonderful fun times. I had some memorable visits with Barb and Max in the little sun room at the front of their cottage. Barb will be greatly missed by all her friends. Sandy Cherrett

      Hi Sandy,
Thank you for your message. My parents loved spending time at the cottage and my mom especially loved that photo. She didn’t like many photos of herself but this was one of them that she liked and obviously brought her great memories as well.
