ANGEL, Marion

Marion Angel died on November 22, 2025, at the age of 93, at Victoria Gardens
LTC Home in Hamilton, where she spent her last two years.
She is survived by her children, Chris, Heather and Colin (Jenny), her
grandchildren Clare Ferguson (Krishna), Nicholas Cormier (Kiernan), Dana Lyn
Kew (Dan) and Sean Angel-York (Aimee) and her great-grandson, Jacob. Marion
was predeceased by her sister, Rita Rounding.
Marion was born in Provost, Alberta and came to Ontario with her family in the
late 1930s, living in Weston and Essex before returning to Toronto to attend
Ryerson’s Retail Management program.
Marion had many professions throughout her life. She was a seamstress, sewing
teacher, and custom closet installer, before going to Sheridan College for a Social
Services diploma in the late 1970s and becoming the Activities Co-ordinator at St.
Joseph’s Villa in Dundas. She finished her working life as a Welcome Wagon team
supervisor.
She volunteered at Burlington’s crisis hotline for 25 years and was active at her
church in Burlington (St. Luke’s Anglican). Marion was also active physically,
taking up cross-country skiing in her forties, and joining one of the first local
gyms.
Marion wasn’t afraid of taking on new challenges in her life – she left an unhappy
marriage at age 50 and made her own way. By her sixties, her main hobby was
genealogy – she researched and traced her children’s ancestry on both sides of
the family for many generations, evolving from ordering records by mail and
viewing microfiche in dusty archives to mastering Ancestry online. She was a
member of ‘Tombstone Chasers’ and gave presentations on genealogical
research to interested groups.
Our family is very grateful for the care that she received from the staff at Victoria
Gardens Long Term Care in Hamilton. A celebration of life will be held at St.
Luke’s at a future date.
