Hong Gan Chong 1928 – 2026

Chong Hong Gan, a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026 at the age of 98. She was born on February 10, 1928 in Malaysia and lived a life rooted in love, kindness, and devotion to her family.  She had a way of making everyone feel welcome – whether through her generosity, her warm smile, her comforting words, or the many traditions she lovingly kept alive.

She was the steady unfailing presence her family leaned on, a source of comfort, warmth, and reassurance.  She gave freely of herself – her time, her love, her compassion – never asking for anything in return.  Her gentle guidance and protective spirit made everyone around her feel safe and valued.

She cherished time spent with her family and took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.  Her love was unconditional, constant and enduring, and it will continue to surround those she leaves behind.

Chong Hong Gan is survived by her 2 loving daughters: Janice Chin (Michael) and Valerie Chong (Winston); grandchildren: Melvyn, Shin Hui, Mervyn, Shin Qi, Junie and Shin Min; great grandchildren: Alexis, Jashan, Devin, Julian, Evan, Isaac, Owen, Alexander and Charlotte, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

Though she is no longer with us, her wisdom, strength and gentle spirit will forever guide those who were fortunate enough to know her.  She will be missed more than words can express and remembered always.

Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grand mother will always remain in our hearts, a beacon in our lives, shining and guiding us forwards with her unrelenting love and wisdom.
