Max Drayton Coolen 1936 – 2026

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Max Drayton Coolen, age 89, on
January 14, 2026. Max was born on July 15, 1936 in Wolfville Nova Scotia.
For those that knew Max well, he will be remembered as a family man, for his love of
sports and his Coolen stubbornness. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 54 years,
Barbara Coolen. Even if you did not know Max well, but stopped to talk to him, you
would know he is survived by his 3 children, Timothy Coolen (Grace), Holly Mackison
(Steven) and Drayton Coolen (Alyson) and would have likely heard their life stories.
Max was passionate about sharing his children’s accomplishments with anyone who
would listen. Max will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren; Meredith,
Julian, Hilary, Madeline and James, each of whom brought him immense pride.
Max was a member of Trinity Anglican Church in Port Credit for more than 50 years. He
served as a warden, a sides-person and sat on several committees throughout his time
with the church.
Max also loved his job. He worked for the Bank of Nova Scotia for 45 years. He started
as a teller in Halifax, and worked in Ottawa, Montreal, Nassau and finished his career
as a Foreign Exchange Trader in Toronto.
A service and internment will take place in the spring at Trinity-St. Paul Anglican
Church, Port Credit. Details to follow.
Rest in peace, Max. You will be missed by all who knew and loved you.
