Patricia Jean Stanley

April 3, 1930 to May 3, 2025

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Patricia Jean Stanley (née Erskine), on May 3rd, 2025, at the age of 95, with loving family by her side.

Born on April 3rd, 1930, in Toronto to Peggy and David Erskine.

Beloved wife of 56 years to the late Gerry Stanley (2016). Loving mother to Karen (Albert), Brian (Lucy), and proud, loving Nana of Daniel (Sam). She had a special place in her heart for her late grandson Justin (2016). Predeceased by her beloved sister Marge Hagey (2021),  and dear cousins Bill Martin  (2019) and Joyce Edwards (2021)

Pat’s early interests included singing, piano, and performing with a community theatre group. In later years, she enjoyed golfing with friends in London and the Woodside ladies in Florida. Apparently, more time was spent with chitchat and laughing than hitting the ball!

After raising their family in London, Pat and Gerry retired to their cottage in Port Bruce on Lake Erie, where Pat cherished her garden and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. They wintered in Melbourne Florida for many years, forging new friendships. Over the years, they enjoyed many travel adventures, including a four- month family motorhome trip across North America, a trip to New Zealand to meet Pat’s cousins, and at the age of 82, a trip to Peru, Ecuador and Galapagos where they met their Plan International foster child.

After Gerry’s passing, Pat embarked on a new adventure, moving first to Oakville, then to Ancaster, to be closer to her children. She enjoyed a fun-filled, active life with new friends at Meadowlands Retirement Community. She developed a new love of exercise in the Meadowlands gym!

Pat was a kind soul with a great sense of humour. She extended unconditional love to family and friends. Her warmth and generosity were evident in the thoughtful ways she acknowledged birthdays and special occasions with cards and flowers. In recent months Pat spoke of how grateful she was for her family and friends and the fulfilling life she was able to live. We were blessed to have her loving presence in our lives for so long.

We extend heartfelt thanks to the dedicated and caring staff at Meadowlands and to Paramed PSWs.  Much gratitude to Care Coordinator Michelle Cherubini and the caring staff at Emmanuel House Hospice in Hamilton, who provided loving care to Pat and support to her daughter Karen during her final days.

Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held later at Glendale Memorial Gardens, Etobicoke, with a family graveside service. In memory of Pat, a donation to The Good Shepherd Emmanuel House Hospice in Hamilton, Plan International, or the SPCA would be appreciated.

Pat was indeed a warm, loving and kind woman of distinction. She quickly became our most dearest and sweetest friend after coming into our lives in Port Bruce. She preferred to be called fun loving or mischievous rather than sweet but with every interaction her sweetness prevailed. She loved our outings for beer and wings but preferred our happy hours on hallelujah hill in Port Bruce. Pat brought cheer and joy into our lives and crawled into our hearts forever. We love and miss you Patsy!
