Barnes, Lucas Bertram 1979 – 2025
Lucas Bertram Barnes, 46, passed away on February 20, 2025, in Hamilton, Ontario. Born on December 15, 1978, in Hamilton, Lucas spent his life in the city he called home, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, intelligence, and humour that touched all who knew him.
Lucas pursued his passion for technology at Mohawk College, where he earned a diploma as a Certified Electronics Engineering Technologist. His expertise and dedication led him to a successful career spanning over two decades. He worked at Dana Corporation, where he served as an Engineering Lab Supervisor. His work was marked by precision and innovation, and he was respected by colleagues for his skill and leadership.
Beyond his professional achievements, Lucas had a deep love for hobbies that reflected his creativity and technical mind. He found joy in creating electronics projects, building and racing RC cars and planes, and meticulously crafting model WWII aircraft. His favourite was the Spitfire Mark 9. He immersed himself in music— his younger days were spent spinning records in clubs, and creating electronic compositions. These passions brought him great fulfillment, and connected him with others who shared his enthusiasm.
Lucas is survived by his loving wife, Amanda Morrison; his cherished daughter, Jaidyn Barnes; his mother, Maryke Barnes, his sister, Courtney Barnes, and his extended family: mother-in-law Angela Wright; father-in-law Doug Morrison; stepmother Emeline Barnes; sister-in-law Shannon Morrison; brothers-in-law Greg (Courtney Barnes) Yemen, Matt (Bekah Neufeld) Morrison, and Andy (Cathy) Morrison; nephews Sam Yemen, Max Yemen, Brendan Morrison, and Cameron Morrison; and nieces Keyondra Merrifield and Annabelle Whitley. He was predeceased by his father, Keith Barnes.
Throughout his life, Lucas was known for his gentle nature, sharp wit, and unwavering kindness. He faced challenges with resilience and fought hard until the end. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. A celebration of life will be held in a few weeks with details to follow.
