TKACH, Igor Vasiliovich

December 2, 1959 – January 14th, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Igor Vasiliovich Tkach on January 14, 2025. After a courageous battle with cancer, Igor passed away surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Born on December 2, 1959, in Kharkiv, Ukraine, Igor lived a life of adventure, dedication, and love, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Igor was a trailblazer in his family, becoming the first to attend university. He earned a postgraduate degree in Physics and an undergrad in Computer Science. He taught accelerated Physics courses to Olympic athletes during their intensive training. A true innovator, post-university he founded an accounting software company after the collapse of the Soviet Union. In 1999, Igor immigrated to Canada with his family to build a new life, where he worked for Magna for the last decade of his life.

A lover of the outdoors, Igor found joy in visiting provincial parks with his beloved wife, Maryna, and their cherished dogs. He will be remembered for his sharp wit, boundless generosity, and warm, outgoing nature that touched everyone he met.

Igor is survived by his devoted wife, Maryna; his son Eugene and Eugene’s partner, Amanda; and his sister, Sveta.

In honor of Igor’s memory, we ask all who knew him to carry forward his legacy of kindness and honesty. His laughter, wisdom, and love will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Memorial service will be held at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery on Friday, January 24th, 2025 between 1PM and 3PM in the Magnolia room. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Those who are unable to attend will be able to view a livestream of the service through the following link: https://stjohnsdixie.com/cemetery/live-memorial/

Rest in peace, Igor. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
