HANNA, Rory John
Our extraordinary son, brother, and friend passed away on November 30, 2017, age 16. Rory is survived by his parents John and Cathy, sisters Christine, Christy Guttin (Cory), and Brynn, by brothers Sean and Cole, and by “Nanny”, Marg Carpenter. We have accepted that Rory attempted to take his own life, finally succumbing after 3 days of ICU care. What no-one can yet understand is why our amazing Rory would choose to stop his life of selfless giving, compassion, creativity, smiling, great achievements in school and hobbies, and his obvious caring for his family and friends whom he surely knew loved and needed him so deeply.
Our heartache finds some solace through the life-saving gift of Rory’s organs to 5 recipients across North America, whose successful transplants have now been confirmed. Our thoughts go out to Rory’s many grieving friends in and out of school and we thank them for their kindnesses to us spoken in Rory’s memory.
Rory showed us all how a good person lives, and how a brilliant mind creates. From an early age his interest in all aspects of film and theatre flourished. He produced, acted in and edited film projects, sometimes as classwork but more often as a film club member or just for the fun and satisfaction of creating.
A celebration of Rory’s 16 years making other people happy will take place on Saturday, December 16th, 2017 from 1-4 pm, at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Conference Centre, 327 Ontario Street, St. Catharines. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Trillium Gift of Life Network.
We still think of you, our dear friend, who left this world far too soon. We carry your memory with us, now and forever.
I hope you like the tulips my scientist

Hello Cathy, I wanted to send you my apologies. I read this in the stream and it saddened me greatly for the family. Then I received a message from Mandi that Rory is your Son. At the breakfast I was not aware of this. My open question about anyone having christmas spirit set you off, and of course as it would, and I want you to know that there are no words for how great yours and your families loss is. I am sending you prayers for strength to get through this and faith to endure. My heart goes out to you, and please feel free to connect anytime if you like. I am here for you.
