RAINFORD, Neville Antonia
Neville Antonia Rainford
June 2, 1940 to October 6, 2024
Neville Antonia Rainford, born on June 2, 1940, in Cassava River, Jamaica, to Clarence and Luna Rainford, has joined them in eternal rest on October 6, 2024. His Aunt Sister Julie Reynolds Haughton was a mother figure to him. As the eldest son of his beloved parents, Neville led a life marked by service, faith, and love.
As a dedicated Knight of Columbus, Neville honored his charge with his words and actions, always ready to serve and defend his Lord and Savior, both in this life and the Kingdoms where he now reigns forever. He moved his family from Jamaica to Canada
in 1977. In his professional life, Neville worked as a Chemist specializing in environmental safety, first with Hoechst and later with Bayer. In service to his Lord, he volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul and as Eucharistic minister to hospitals and nursing
homes in the Kitchener Waterloo Region.
Known to many of his friends and family by his nicknames—Bruggs, N-Goat, Old Dog, Rabbi—the nickname he cherished the most was his recently acquired RFL nickname HD-BUG. “H” for Husband, “D” for Dad, “B” for Brother, “U” for Uncle, and “G” for Grandpa. These roles defined his greatest joy in life.
As a **Husband**, Neville is survived by the love of his life, Rema Rainford.
As a **Dad**, he is survived by his three sons, Neil, Daren, and Kirk Rainford, and his daughters-in-law, Debby, Alicia and Carrie.
As a **Grandpa**, he is survived by his beloved grandchildren: Jordan, Alexyss, Tyneisha, Azaria, Aniella, and Alonzo.
As a **Brother**, Neville is survived by his brother, Norbert Rainford, and his four sisters, Valerie Salmon, Shirley Lafreniere, Cherry Bowen, and Dawn Robinson. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Keith Salmon, Uran Bowen, Clement Robinson,
Louis Archbald, and Horace Dalley, as well as his sisters-in-laws, Sonja Archbald, Winsome Downey, Vicky Rainford, Jennifer Dalley and Janet Dalley.
As an **Uncle**, Neville cherished all his nieces, nephews, and cousins in the Rainford, Salmon, Bowen, Lafreniere, Robinson, Archbald, Dalley, Creary and Thame families, loving them and their families deeply.
Neville was a proud graduate of St. George’s College, the University of the West Indies, and McMaster University. He was an avid bridge and master domino player, a lover of fishing, football, soccer, and golf, but nothing brought him more joy than being HD-BUG.

Neville will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Neville, affectionately called “Bruggs”, my big brother was a warm, kind, loving and jovial person. It was always a pleasure to be around him especially when we had gatherings. He was what we called “life of the party”, especially in a dominoe game. He was an avid sports person. I remember some years ago I met a young lady who worked at the company that he worked with, and just talking she mentioned that her boss is the best and she said Neville Rainford. I said that’s my brother.
It was an awesome feeling.
All the relatives in Jamaica send condolences to the family;
Neville Bruggs will be remembered,
May his soul rest in peace.
Dear Rema, Cherry and Family,
Our most sincere condolences to you and family with the loss of your Neville. We will forever cherish his warmth whenever we all got together.
It’s hard to find the words that might bring comfort at this time, but perhaps just knowing that we are thinking of you with sympathy and sharing this hurt will somehow help to give you strength at this harsh time.
The Happy memories, Shared times, and Joys are special things that keeps a loved one close, so he will always be with you all, with us and so many. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time and in the days ahead.
With much love,
Maurice & Family (Watt)
