My deepest condolences to everyone who loved this man. I met Andrew in Grade 10 Chemistry and he was weeks ahead of the class. His spirit will live on for eons.

Please accept my deepest condolences: Stuart, Danielle, and family. I will miss him terribly. We grew up together in our teens and were inseparable. We would have long discussions about becoming rock stars. We had long country rides when we would “borrow” my mom’s car, where we would soul search beyond our years — about the meaning of life & death. Over the years, up until the present, we would have long discussions over the phone. I will miss him dearly. -Bill Savage

A tribute to my cousin Andrew.

Although we lived far apart, so actual meeting up would be divided by years, whenever our paths crossed, catching up felt effortless.
A memory that really stays with me is meeting Andrew when he visited the Isle of Man around 1991. He told us about touring with his band and with long black hair and leather jacket on, to me he was the coolest cousin!
Whenever we met or chatted, what came across was his kindness. He listened without judgment, and made me feel that what I said mattered to him. He was interested in the the views of others and how we all came to be the way we are.
Whilst in Toronto, Andrew bought me my first proper burrito, and introduced me to the culinary joy of a Buddha bowl! We also had a great time looking for non-existent bears.
I thought our paths would cross in the same space again, I would have looked forward to it.
My heart goes out to Beryl, Stu, Danielle, Greg, and all the family who loved him deeply. It’s clear, from the tributes shared, that Andrew’s art, music, work, thoughtfulness and kindness will always be remembered.

    Love remains x

Looking back on all the friends I made in the 90s in Toronto, I have many great memories of Andrew. Amazing conversations, discussions (and debates), movie nights, books, music, and movie recommendations. I couldn’t believe he was a massive Prince fan. He hosted Cinephobia, wrote thousands of articles, blog posts, letters to corporations and politicians. He was creative (music, film, screen writing, editorial) incredibly smart, bold, and revolutionary.
Some of my favourite times were at the celebratory feasts at Salad King after he finished one of his 10-18 day master cleanse diets. Too many chilies, way too much rice, and tonnes of laughter.
I loved that he always spoke his mind, he was very eloquent, wonderfully sarcastic, and a truly unique human.
Sending lots of love to Andrew’s family, his close friends, and colleagues ❤️

Please accept my sincerest condolences for the untimely loss of Andrew. He dated my sister Tracy, back in the 80s, and became an extension of our family (née Bernoties). We shared lots of adventures and lots of laughs! We’re blessed to have tons of fond memories that include him. Gone, but not forgotten!

I’ll always hold the images of our youth,
In your Liverpool home, a scousers truth.
Catching ice cream vans with happy feet,
Butlins holiday fun, a memory of treats.

But then the miles began to rise,
You left for Canada beneath new skies.
Letters and calls kept up our link so fine,
A pen pal from a far-off, wintery clime.

The family paid a visit every now & then,
A holiday to bring our lives close again.
That great divide could never break our bond,
Our quiet love was always far beyond.

As time ticked, conversation grew less free,
A natural fading, as I guess is meant to be.
Yet our core connection was kept as whole,
We never lost our heart and soul.

I truly admired the way you made your mark,
Your linguistic skills shone from the dark.
A horror critic, sharp with every word,
Your deep intelligence was often heard.

You had a passion and a brilliant mind,
The rarest spirit of a special kind.
I’m sitting here, contented and serene,
To watch the world behind rose tinted screen.

Your powerful words surely made their dent,
A life of true significance I’m proud you spent.
Now you are free from earths binding chains,
Beyond the pain this heavy ground contains.

We’ll meet again when this short life is done,
No doubt at all, upon the great “other one.”
Perhaps a billion years will quickly pass,
But as I see your form across the cosmic glass.

As our approaching atoms start to mix,
I’ll shout as we did in childhood tricks,
And just like in the days as kids we would race,
I’ll hit you a slap right on your face!

Sleep easy Andrew, Always in my heart & mind, love always, Simon x
