Petersen, Bob

Robert George Petersen

February 25, 1939 – October 20, 2020

Bob (Robert George) Petersen, passed from this earth on the afternoon of Tuesday, October
20th and entered his Heavenly home. Although his family is much saddened to say good bye to a
beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, we rejoice at his homecoming in heaven
and his reunion with loved ones who have gone before.

Bob was born and raised in Stratford, Ontario, where he began training as an electrician for the
CN. Always curious about new technology, Bob studied computer systems on his own and
eventually developed customized systems for churches and other charitable organizations. He
was also an accomplished guitarist, building his own electric guitar. In the 70’s he served as lead
guitarist for the gospel quartet, The King’s Messengers. An avid sailor since childhood, he spent
many summer days aboard his boat, Misty II, exploring Ontario waters with family and friends.
Throughout his life, he was privileged and loved to serve in children’s, youth, and small group
ministries at his local church.

Bob was married for 58 years to his wife, Eileen. He is sadly missed by her, his daughter Joy, son
Paul, grandchildren Chris and Natasha, brother, Dave, sister-in-law Shirley, sister, Karen, sister
and brother-in-law, Althea and Walter, and nieces and nephews Danielle, Tom, Anne and Sean,
Heather-Mae and Sarah, Sharon, Mark and Stephen.

Eileen, Paul, Joy, and your whole family. I send you all, my heartfelt condolences. Anyone from the outside looking in could see that Bob was an amazing husband, father, grandfather. I am thinking of, and praying for, all of you.

I had the privilege of being part of an incredible Bible Study group, led by two very knowledgeable, warm, kind, and hospitable people. Eileen, you and Bob made me feel like family. You have been there for me and my family over the years. Bob always encouraged us and always provided such positive encouragement for Quentin. He was always kind to all of my children, and even let Zoee (my daughter) use him as a test subject for her hair cutting exam. She has pictures as proof. These pictures bring smiles to our faces.

Eileen, know that I will be there for you in any way I can, for now, and for the days ahead.

Again, I am thinking of all of you, and sending my love.

We are so saddened by Bob’s passing and will miss him (and sad that the pandemic caused us to miss our Bible study group for the last six months). He was such a good example, so hospitable, kind, concerned for others, a conscientious group leader and fine Christian man.
Our condolences to Eileen and the entire family. May God comfort you in this difficult time.

My deepest condolences to Eileen and the rest of the family. I have nothing but the warmest of memories of Bob especially him and Eileen and their musical abilities. They are part of the reason that I am still serving God in what ever capacity I can. Love you Eileen

To Eileen, Joy, Paul – This is so hard to write as my heart if broken. You are all my family and I love you guys very much. I have many wonderful memories from over the years…times spent on the sail boats…visits to the trailer and campfire with the kids..almost every Christmas Eve since my kids were babies. I know he has gone to a better place but it’s still hard to know he’s not going to be there and I will miss him very much.
