TULK, James Edgar

James Edgar Tulk, 74, of Mississauga, passed away on Tuesday, January 28th, after a long and hard-fought battle. He was born on June 3rd, 1950, in Montreal, Quebec. He attended Concordia University (formerly Loyola University), where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. At the beginning of his career, he worked in Saint Jean, Quebec, followed by a job that moved him to Toronto, then back to Montreal for a few years before he returned to Ontario (Mississauga), where he remained based until he retired.

He is survived by his wife, Trina (née Singer), his children, Jeffrey and Katie (Tyler), and his beloved grandson, Oliver. He is also survived by his brother, Peter (Cindi) of Freeport, PA, and his sister, Laurie of Winnipeg, MB.He is predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Kathleen Tulk (née Handford), and his brother, John.

James had many hobbies, including golfing, skiing at Glen Eden (“Mount Bump”), and riding his motorcycle. His greatest adventure was a trip to the Arctic Circle, but he also traveled to every Canadian province and one territory (Yukon), as well as every state in the continental U.S. His enjoyment of cryptic crosswords, math  puzzles and bridge was also well known to his family and friends.  Despite his love for these activities, James’ greatest joy was spending time with his grandson, Oliver—introducing him to his first French fry and his first swing ride.

Cancer will be beaten, but unfortunately, not this time.

A memorial service will be held in the spring. Details to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
