SPICE, Joelle Gilberte
Joelle was born April 24, 1945, in war-torn Lyon, France to Leon and Pauline Fouraizon, and was the last of ten children. Four beloved sisters survive Joelle: Huguette, Jane, Mado and Maryse.
Joelle emigrated to Montreal, Canada in February 1965 where she met and married her husband of fifty-nine years, Perry Spice. They raised five very active boys in the Toronto area: David, Adam, Jared, Ben, and Jacob. They have sixteen beautiful grandchildren: Dalton, Ian, Nathan, Ryan, Sam, Allison, Sydney, Jessica, Emma, Jack, Hannah, Andrew, Isabel, Jonny, Julian, and Jacob – with two great grandchildren soon to arrive.
Joelle was a very talented woman: great French cook whose friends often remarked years later remembering specific dishes; writer of inspiring stories in English, her second language; accomplished genealogist and former co-director of the Brampton Family History Center; knitter, seamstress, crochet and needleworker. Joelle will always be remembered for being a loving mother and wife, a good sport, a cheerful host and a dear friend.
She will be sorely missed by her family and so many friends. For a visual review of her life, please click on the link below to watch a fifteen-minute video prepared by her son, Jared:
