Barbara Ann Mee Lon Hum, 65, of Toronto, Ontario, passed away on January 28, 2024 after a
short battle with cancer.
Barbara was born on May 22, 1958 to Thomas Hum and Erith Lott in Toronto.
On Canada Day in 1989, Barbara met Bob Thurston at Billy Bats Restaurant in Toronto and they
went on to have 1 child, Carley in 1991.
Barbara loved jamming with Bob and her brothers in law, often playing the spoons and the
bongos to classic rock and bluegrass. She was very proud to know a couple songs on the
harmonica.
After waitressing for most of her life in various restaurants including Scratch Daniels and Mars
Diner, Barbara retired from her roles early due to sickness, but went on to having loving visits
with her grandchildren.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents Thomas Hum and Erith Lott, her sisters Wanda
“Memee” Demers (Al), Rose Power (John), her brothers Fairburn “Bucky” Lott (Linda), and
Alan Lott. She is survived by her husband Bob, daughter Carley (Shaun), Grandchildren
Benjamin and Levi, dear sisters Lily (Craig), Jo Anne (Dave). She will be missed by nieces
Jennifer, Lana & Krystal and nephews John (Stephanie) & Derek.
A celebration of life in her honor will be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society for Lung Cancer research.
