Sadly, Hubert Filleul at 97 years passed away on January 10, 2025. A remarkable guy and much loved.
Hu, predeceased by his wife Barbara, who died far too young at 64, raised their two daughters, Susan and Cathy, as they moved across Canada and abroad as you did in those days in the military (Royal Canadian Air Force). As dad often commented, it was a very good life!
Hu loved to party (as did our mom) and had many good and loyal friends sprinkled across the country. We were always amazed when someone he hadn’t seen in many years would call and they’d chat like they just parted ways yesterday. Up until recently he could name all of his teachers along with a fun fact about each one.
Never one to shy away from change, Hu moved from Victoria BC to Mississauga at age 84. He embraced his “new” life at a Retirement Home and over the years formed many close friendships.
Our dad so loved his six great grandchildren. He often commented on how much he enjoyed seeing “their little minds at work” and he felt so blessed to live long enough to get to know them. He loved his three grandchildren too, but hey, they aren’t little and cute. And he more than tolerated his sons-in-law – Craig and Craigg.
We’d like to thank the caregivers at Parkland on the Glen, Mississauga, for taking such good care of Mr. Filleul aka “Papa” especially during the last couple of months.
We’ll miss you Dad, Hu, Gramps, Great Grandpa, Uncle Hu….lots of love, hugs and kisses.
No funeral service planned.

We are saddened to learn of the recent passing of longtime Aircrew Association of Ontario member, Hubert Filleul. Our sincerest condolences to his family and friends. We will remember him. Per ardua ad astra.
