PERSALL, Gerald L

Of Brantford ON passed peacefully at VON Sakura House Hospice on
Thursday August 29 th , 2024 at 91 years of age. Predeceased by his loving wife of 29 years
Marie Persall, and his parents Leo and Iva Persall (nee Longstreet), and sisters Velma Fitness
and Vera Lindsay.
Loving father of three: Leisa of Hamilton ON, Jeff (Judy) of Brantford, and, Suzette (John) of
Woodstock ON. Survived by his sister Delores Adams of Burlington, and, his partner of 24
years Trudy Baumgart of Brantford. Proud grandfather to Meghann and Ryan Macintosh.
Gerald was raised on the family farm in Wilsonville, and never forgot his rural roots throughout
his life. He would often reflect upon life from his early years and how it had shaped his life and
love of family. He was an avid automobile enthusiast who thrived behind the wheel. He would
frequently embark upon a ‘day trip’ that would find him travelling for days or even weeks at a
time on road trips to the east or west coasts, northern Ontario, or as far south as Mexico to
explore new places. He could always locate great places to dine and satisfy a sweet tooth! He
was admired by all for his calming presence and patient, thoughtful manner. He could often be
found puttering around the yard, or fixing something in his well-loved workshop at home.
A memorial service was held at Wilsonville Cemetery in the presence of family on Saturday,
September 7 th in celebration of Gerald’s life.
Special thanks to the entire staff and compassionate volunteers at Sakura House Hospice, the
palliative team at Brantford General Hospital, Rev. Tom Chire of Burlington, Rev. David Doherty
of St. Barnabas Anglican Mission, (Wilsonville), and Chris Silverthorne and his dedicated staff at
Tranquility Burial & Cremation Services, Brantford.

Grateful to Gerry for coming into my Mom’s life. That first cup of coffee in Port Dover was the beginning of a beautiful partnership that lasted for many years.
May his warm spirit live on in us forever and his memory never be forgotten.
    All our heartfelt love
    Barbara & Trudy
