We send our deepest condolences to all of Doug’s family. We’re so sorry for this huge loss. Meghan and Kyle, we love you so much and we’re heartbroken for you over the loss of your amazing stepdad, so soon after the loss of your beautiful mom. It’s impossible not to imagine Doug and Aunt Denise together again, somehow, somewhere. Doug was one of the kindest men I’ve ever met. A generous uncle, a wonderful husband to my aunt Denise, and on behalf of my mom, who we also lost unexpectedly last year, and who loved Doug very much, I want to say how much he will be missed around a table – a dinner table, a card table, a pool table. He was always such great company. He remembered what you said, he laughed along, and he hugged tight. A donation will be made in Doug’s honour on behalf of my dad, my sister and I, and his caring heart will be remembered always.
    With much love,
    Nicole and the Smith Family

Doug was an amazing person and a wonderful brother in law. Bob and I played euchre together with Doug and Denise every other Saturday for a few years and we had so many good times and lots of laughs. He treated my sister so well and cared for her when she got sick. Loved her kids like his own and never complained about anything. He visited with us after Denise passed and talked about his kids and the trips he took with them and was so very proud of them. I believe Doug is now at peace with Denise in heaven. Our deepest condolences to Doug’s entire family. He will be greatly missed.

My heart goes out to all of the Vrolyk Family; those who I have met, and those I have not. I enjoyed spending time in Doug’s home, with his former wife and their kids. Doug was kind, generous and really funny. He had all the qualities that led me to believe that he was a great father, and a great guy. I know he will be greatly missed.
