I just read on Ruth’s Facebook wall of Eric’s passing. I am so sorry to hear this. My condolences go out to Geraldine, Jackie, Shaun, Kema and Jerry as well as all of his grandchildren and his siblings.
Eric was an awesome person and I will never forget him. Although I haven’t seen him for many years he still holds a place close to my heart.

My deepest condolences to the Stephenson family and their many friends.

I had the privilege of working with Eric from 1977 when we started up the new Barrier lines in Cryovac and then for over 30 years until we sadly shut down mfg in the plant in 2007. Even when we were on opposite sides of the table, Eric’s integrity and big heart always shone through his “gruff” exterior. I counted on him a great many times over the years and he always came through with hard work, determination and creativity. I often said openly “if only we had more guys like Eric here…”

I’m sad to know he is no longer with us but, I take comfort that he is at peace and looking down on us with that great big smile of his.

    My kindest regards,
    Axel Bauer

I got the pleasure of meeting Eric in 1995 my first year at Cryovac and he was one of the first people to make me feel welcome when i started. As many before me have said Eric would help with anything you asked, he may complain a bit before hand but you knew that what you asked him was going to get done. As the manager of the warehouse since 2000 Eric became one of my go to people for any problem that came up. My thoughts are with the family as i know the last 3-4 years have been especially difficult, but beyond those perly gates now walks a special angel willing to help anybody.

To see the smile we brought upon our brother Erics face when we stood beside his bed. Brought great happiness to us at a time so very sad. For our brother to know we were here and call us by name made us feel so very good about the fact that we came. Eric resides in Heaven and we find comfort in that now, he suffers no more that makes our hearts feel great. Where he is right now is a wonderful place.
We will miss u always. Lots of love to all the family.

Geraldine and family: My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Its been a very long time since I’ve seen you all. I know that Eric will be truly missed.

Its not, how did he die, but how did he live? Not, what did he gain, but what did he give? These are the units to measure the worth of a man as a man, regardless of birth. Not what was his church, nor what was his creed? But had he befriended those really in need? Was he ever ready, with word of good cheer, to bring back a smile, to banish a tear? Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say, but how many were sorry when he passed away? We will miss you Eric…..<3

Our deepest condolences Geraldine and the entire family on your loss. Eric will be truely missed. I had the pleasure of working with Eric for 32½ years and he was my partner in crime for the last 6 of them when we worked in Receiving together to the very end of the closure. He will never be forgotten.

Sorry and saddened that we won’t we able to make the Memorial gathering on the 18th as we will be away for our 30th wedding anniversary but we will be thinking of you all in this sad time and we will be toasting a glass of Rum in honour of Eric. 🙂

To the Stevenson & Kielley Families: Sorry to hear of Eric’s passing, I read in a book recently that sums it all up: “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, LOVE leaves a memory no can steal.”
May Eric now rest in peace. Keep his memories close to your heart & with the help of Family & Friends you will get through this terrible time.

    God’s Garden ~ by Anonymous
    God looked around his garden
And He found an empty place.
And then He looked down upon the earth,
    And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you,
    And lifted you to rest.
    God’s garden must be beautiful,
    He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering,
He knew you were in pain,
He knew that you would never
    Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough,
And the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids,
    And whispered “Peace be thine.”
It broke our hearts to lose you.
    But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.

To Daddy From Your Little Girl

    God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped his arms around you,
    and whispered, “come to me.”

You didn’t deserve what you went through,
    So He gave you rest.
    God’s garden must be beautiful,
    He only takes the best

And when I saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain
I could not wish you back
    To suffer that again.

My heart goes out to the entire family during their time of mourning. Eric was a sensational person and would have helped just about anybody if it was possible for him to do so. His heart was bigger than any other I have known, and his happy-go-lucky character was something that will always be cherished and remembered both professionally and personally.
Eric, if I wasn’t pregnant, I would happily drink a shot of Jack Daniels or Screech (even though I cannot stomach either) to celebrate your life – because I know you would do no less for anybody else. Instead, I will grab a large regular from Tim Hortons with a Duchie and fondly remember you for the wonderful man you were – and always will be. You will be missed by so many. Rest in Peace.

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time as you mourn and celebrate Eric’s life. I used to work with Eric at Cryovac/Sealed Air and visiting him was by far the highlight of my day. I used to tease him about being a newfie and he used to tell me about his great motorcycle adventures. I am sad to see him go, but I am comforted by the fact that he’s probably tearing it up all over heaven on that harley!
