Richard Joseph Calligan
It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Richard Joseph Calligan, who passed away on July 13, 2026, at Regina Gardens in Hamilton, Ontario, at the age of 72.
Born in Hamilton, Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, June, and by his daughter Sarah Lagrove (Michael) and son Mike. He was predeceased by his daughter, Jennifer Coates (Scott). He was a proud grandfather to Landon, Ayden, Ben, Lauren, and Hannah.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Jean Calligan. He is also survived by his brothers, Steve and Dan (Karen), and his sister, Jolene, as well as extended family.
Richard will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his lifelong passion for the Buffalo Bills and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He enjoyed following his favorite teams and spending time with his family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Regina Gardens for the care and compassion they provided to Richard.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at a later date.
