Revlyn Sweeney
August 5, 1953 – May 2, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of Revlyn (Rev) J. Sweeney on May 2, 2026, at the age of 72.
Born on Bell Island in Newfoundland, Rev carried a deep pride in where he came from. Even after making his home in Cambridge, that connection never left him. He found comfort in life’s simple things settling in for an old western, adding to his vast movie collection that spanned every genre, and sharing stories of home. Being a Newfoundlander was something he wore proudly throughout his life.
Rev will be remembered as an incredibly hardworking man who dedicated more than 30 years to the same company as a loader operator. His strong work ethic, reliability, and quiet commitment never wavered. He believed in putting in a full day’s work and took pride in providing for those he cared about.
He leaves behind those closest to him: his son, Johnathan Sweeney; daughter-in-law, Theresa Gilbert; and his cherished grandchildren, Jack and Adelyn Sweeney. He is also lovingly remembered by his close companion and dear friend, Isabella (Liz) Maharaj, along with extended family and lifelong connections in Newfoundland and beyond.
True to who he was, never one for attention Rev asked that there be no formal services. He will be remembered quietly, in the stories shared, the movies replayed, and the lasting memories held by those who knew and loved him.
