Randy Rive

March 1, 1952 – July 13, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Randy Rive, who, after a long and courageous battle with diabetes, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side.

Randy faced countless setbacks throughout his illness with remarkable strength, courage and determination.  Even during his most difficult days, he never lost his wonderful sense of humour and always found a way to make those around him laugh.  His resilience and unwavering spirit were an inspiration to everyone who knew and loved him.

Randy leaves behind his beloved wife, Diana; his loving son, Max, and his daughter in law Tiffany; and his cherished grandchildren, Brayden, Isabelle, and Jaxon, who brought him immense pride and joy. Randy is predeceased by his parents and several of his siblings .  He is survived by his brother Don (Sylvia) Rive and his sister Joyce Blue as well as his brother and sister in laws of the Mroz family.   He was also a much-loved and favourite uncle to many nieces and nephews in the Rive and Mroz families, who will forever cherish the memories, laughter, and love they shared with him.

A lifelong supporter of youth sports, Randy dedicated many hours to Brantford Minor Baseball, where he made lasting friendships and touched the lives of countless young athletes and their families.  He was also a longtime and valued employee at Brantford Honda, where he was respected by his colleagues and known for his hard work, kindness, and friendly nature.

Randy will be remembered for his generosity, his infectious laughter, his love for his family, and the courage with which he faced life’s greatest challenges.  Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare teams who cared for Randy throughout his journey, and to the many family members and friends who offered their love, prayers and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Randy’s memory may be made to Stedman Community Hospice in Brantford.

Diana and family I am so sorry for your loss. Although I haven’t seen Randy for sometime just the mention of his name brings a smile to my face. Remember and cherish the good times.

Randy passed far too soon. There will be a little less humour in the world without him.
He was so proud of his family, his beautiful wife Diana and his handsome son Max. I will always remember him for his wit, that twinkle in his eye and his can-do attitude despite so many setbacks.
I was so happy to be able to visit him just prior to his passing. Even then he was funny!
He leaves a big hole and will be remembered by so many people. ❤️🙏

Dearest Max and Tiffany my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your dad.
I remember meeting him at your mom and dad’s home. He was so sweet and interesting to chat with.
Even briefly, he left a lasting impression.
There are no words of comfort at such a time as now.
Just know you have family and friends who will carry you through.
Love you!

Randy truly was one of those people who left an impression on everyone he met. He was full of life, loved deeply, and his laughter was so contagious that you couldn’t help but laugh along with him.

One of my favourite memories is from our trip to Cuba. I confidently told Diana there was absolutely no way Randy would spend money while we were there. Well, I couldn’t have been more wrong! Before long, here came Randy strolling down the beach proudly carrying a pair of bongos, with the biggest grin on his face. The laughter that followed could probably be heard from one end of the beach to the other. It’s a memory that still makes me smile.

Thank you, Randy, for the laughter, the friendship, and the wonderful memories. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. My heartfelt condolences to Diana and the entire family.

The first time I met Randy in late 1989 when we traveled to Brantford during inclement weather for a wedding. Immediately there was a connection of friendship and family. Randy kindly opened the doors to his home and welcomed everyone as you would expect a wonderful host to help complete strangers to get indoors out of the freezing rain. And then we went out on a real sleigh ride, just one of many fun adventures. A generous man with his time and always there assisting anybody who knew him. Randy’s love for happiness was a key component to keeping others together through his infectious enthusiasm to ensure the comfort of everyone around him. Quite the man with a wonderful sense of humor. There was never a dull moment when you were in the good company of Randy. If you ever needed a ride to the airport or just to go into town for an errand, Randy already had the keys to the vehicle and in the drivers seat. He would call you if you were around visiting and extend invitations “to do something”, quite the organizer. The best description with one word about Randy is “Gentleman”. Randy loves his Family and extended family and was a joy to be around him. Randy Rive a man you were glad to have in your life.

A life well lived.
I lost my best friend, someone that was more then all the sports we played all the holidays wether it was an amazing motorcycle trip, skiing, fishing, golf and family events. Randy was always there for me, family and friends you always knew you could count on him regardless of the situation and he could also quickly put a smile on your face.
He will be missed but not forgotten.
Love you always

My Uncle Randy was the most positive influence that I had in my life. No matter how critical or negative I could be about something, he could always come up with something funny or witty to say, and put a different spin on it for me. I can remember his “battle cry “ when I was in my mid teens ( he was only 4.5 years older than me) “it’s Saturday “ and the music would come on and we would have another wild and crazy day.
Randy and I came west on his 900 Kawasaki for my cousins wedding ( me on the back, in May of 77). This man was fearless ( or crazy). It rained for 900 miles after Brandon Manitoba and he was passing transport trucks ( on the paved shoulder) because we couldn’t see to pass the normal way. I was freaking! I told him what if there’s a car broke down or a hitchhiker, he told me he would yell “jump “ before we hit. The very next time he did it, he yelled “jump” , of course we didn’t, and he laughed so loud. I can still hear him. I am broken by our losing him.” May the peace of Christ be with him, and all of us “

While my heart is breaking for you Di and all the family, I will always remember all the great times we shared at the “Big Camp” and “Little Camp” up north and all the laughter. ( well and some cocktails) That was the thing about Randy…. he had a great sense of humor and could always make us laugh. The trips he and Ted made to Florida to take in a full round of games: a whirlwind multiple city tour of baseball and hockey, even though he was hurting he never complained. He lived life to the fullest and we are grateful that we were able to share many a good time with you all. Love Mike and Maureen

Diana, Max and family, we are very sorry for your loss. Please accept our deepest condolences 🙏 He will be missed.

July 15, 2026 | Sabeela Clarke

We were so saddened to hear of Randy’s passing. He was a wonderful man, and we always enjoyed the time we spent with him. He will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humour, and the warmth he brought to those around him.
Whenever we visited the grandchildren, Eddie would often disappear for hours because he was spending time with Randy. Even though they knew each other for less than ten years, they developed a special friendship and truly enjoyed one another’s company.
We are especially grateful that we were able to spend time with Randy in the hospital just a few days before his passing. We shared some laughs together, and that visit will always be a cherished memory for us.
Please accept our deepest sympathy during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family as you mourn this tremendous loss.
With heartfelt condolences,
Eddie and Sabeela ❤️

Dear Diana and family
Very saddened to hear of Randy’s passing. I first met Randy through sports and in high school, but really got to know him when we played flag football for many years. Just yesterday I was talking with Geoff Edge and sharing stories especially the time Randy decided to do a few hot laps around the cinder track at Mohawk Park on his 900 Kawasaki before a football game. He laid down the bike and tore up his leg. As somebody else said he was either fearless or crazy, but he insisted on playing the game because he did not want to let the guys down. That was the kind of guy he was and the many great memories we hold. Very deepest condolences , Diana and family.

Condolences to Diana, Max, the rest of his family and everyone else who knew him. I had not seen Randy since my last visit to Brantford a few years ago. Fond memories of hilarious days skiing in the Rockies when he would visit, and crazy motorcycle rides in my Brantford days. One of the most genuine, funny people l have known.

Dear Diana and family;
Please accept my sincere sympathy during this time of loss.
Randy was a true gentleman. He was caring, kind, loving and full of positive thinking.
I remember him as a client at the bank where I worked. He always had that smile that let you know he was glad to see you. I remember starting to give Max a toonie way back when and Randy made me feel like it was a big gift. It was the thought he told me even after Max got older.
I respected this man and his family and even though our paths did not cross often I always remembered him and his family.
May all of his wonderful memories help to ease your broken hearts.
Fly high with the stars.
Blessings.

Peter and I travelled with Randy and Diana for many years to Cuba. There are far too many laughs and great times for me to tell. I will say the best one he used to say as we sat down for dinner every night as they asked what we would like to drink Randy would say I don’t drink and i was a little drinker!
Diana our prayers and thoughts are with you at this most difficult time.
He will be truly missed. Hugs to all of you 💞
