Ramage, John Abraham

John Abraham Ramage

September 5, 1962 ~ April 1, 2024

John joined the Ramage family at 6 days old. He was a sweet baby and was adored by his parents Irene and Len, his brother Brian and sister Heather. Having the challenge of low vision, John attended W. Ross MacDonald School for the Blind. He lived in residence and commuted to Markham weekly where our family resided. That was not and easy life for a little boy or his family, but John made the most of it by creating deep friendships among the students and teachers which followed him throughout his adulthood.

John worked for many years at Koolatron and could often be seen walking around town as that was his preferred method of transit.

John had a loving connection with animals of every kind. In his final days he would list off the names of his favourite pets; Heidi, Harley and Betsy. They would surely be rejoicing in a new heavenly connection with him.

As an adult, John pursued information about his birth family and was pleased to meet his half-sister, Vera, who lives in Newfoundland. They kept in touch and he was glad for this family connection.

John met Tania, the love of his life, about nine years ago. This loving relationship made it possible for him to stay independent through some challenging health issues. John and his best friend, Chris, shared a love of sports. The Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Maple Leafs, and wrestling were ongoing passions for John. His family will be forever grateful to both Chris and Tania who were by his side, enjoying a cup of coffee, cheering on the favourite team and sharing friendship with him.

Words fail to express the gratitude we feel toward all the staff, and particularly the Nurses in the Palliative Care Unit at the Brantford General Hospital, who gave him care and compassion in his final moments.

If desired, donations in memory of John can be made to the W. Ross MacDonald School for the Blind or the CNIB.

Interment will take place at Oakhill Cemetery on Friday June 14th, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. followed by a memorial gathering at Mohawk Park at shelter  E.
