It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father and grandfather, Ralph Graham Smith, on April 20, 2026, at 11:19 p.m. in Oakville, Ontario.
Ralph was born on June 5, 1929, in Toronto, Canada, and lived a long and wonderful life marked by good health and creativity. He was an accomplished artist, writer, screenwriter, and lifelong ideas person whose passion for creating continued until his final days.
After graduating from the Ontario College of Art ,Ralph began his career in advertising at Gorie Advertising. He went on to build a long and successful career, contributing to many well-known marketing campaigns.
Ralph had a deep appreciation for design and craftsmanship, which extended beyond his work. He was a car enthusiast and collector of vintage cars, a scuba diver, and had a strong interest in history and maintaining his health and independence.
Even during his final days in the hospital, Ralph could be found sketching—his creativity and drive to create never left him. At nearly 97 years old, he was still developing new ideas, working on logo concepts for various companies, and even developing plans for a coffee shop.
Ralph lived with purpose, creativity, and quiet determination, leaving behind not only a body of work, but a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He was a loving father and grandfather and is survived by his three children: Kristin (Fred), Gregg (Lisa), and Scott (Cindy), and his beloved grandchildren Zoe, Alexa, Cameron, and Kendra. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jacqueline Noreen Smith, whom he loved dearly, and his son, Cameron Drew Smith.
A service will be held on April 30, 2026, at St. John’s Dixie in Mississauga with burial to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery. For those who wish to attend, a small gathering to celebrate Ralph’s life will be held on May 2, 2026.
