In Loving Memory of Paul James Draper

September 30th , 1958 – June 10th 2026

Peacefully, at the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital on Wednesday June 10 th , Paul
James Draper of Dunnville received his wings and has travelled to his eternal home.
Husband of Diana (Shirton) for 33 years. Loving son of the late Richard and Lillian
Draper. Son-in-law to Velma and the late Bruce Shirton. Cherished brother to Marilyn,
Bryan and Susan, Doug, Karen Mills, Bonnie and Randy Robins, Gary and Angie, and
Michael. Predeceased by brothers Roger, Wayne, David and sister Donna. Paul was a
wonderful Uncle to Robert, Angelene (George), Glenn (Stephanie), Miranda (Ryan),
Roger, Andrew (Stephanie), Nathaniel and Alex. Great Uncle to four nephews and four
nieces.
Paul was born in Welland, the tenth child of a large family. The family moved to
Attercliffe where Paul was blessed with two more younger brothers, bringing the total to
twelve children. The family would make a few more moves over the years to the
surrounding Dunnville area.
Paul attended local schools. He was a long-time employee of Bicks Pickles.
Paul had a great love of music, especially old country music. He had many albums, 8
tracks, cassettes and cd’s. He liked to watch the old tv shows like Green Acres, Beverly
Hillbillies, Hee-Haw and Leave It to Beaver to name a few. He watched many Country
music shows too.
Paul was friendly and liked to talk to people. If you met him downtown, he always had
time for hello and a chat. Paul had very strong faith and enjoyed attending The Highway
Chapel Sunday services. He enjoyed the Wednesday prayer meetings and was very
fond of the church community. They brought him great comfort.
The family wishes to thank Dr Kamouna for the wonderful care provided to Paul over
the past few years. Thank you to the 3 rd floor nurses of HWMH for the exceptional
compassionate care they provided during Paul’s stay. A special thank you to Pastor
Carson Culp and Gerry DeBoer for prayers, visiting Paul and spending time with us at
the hospital.
As per Paul’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the
Highway Chapel Dunnville, at a later date with Interment at Riverside Cemetery.
