Nariman Lala

Nariman Lala

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Nariman Lala at the Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington on May 1, 2023 at the age of 82.

Cherished father of Becky (Aubrey) and Darcy. Adored brother of Noshir, Yazdi (predeceased), Dilnavaz and Pipi. Beloved son of Gustasp (predeceased) and Aloo (predeceased). Nariman will be missed by many extended family and friends.

Nariman immigrated from India to Canada in his twenties to experience his first winter and start his career as a physiotherapist at Joseph Brant Hospital in 1965. This is where he met Janet, mother of his children, and wife of 31 years. Nariman worked as physiotherapist for the duration of his career until he retired in 2015.

Nariman was a true gentleman and his life was an example of strength, love, courage and grace. He was the embodiment of what it means to be a decent human being, someone who showed people respect, care and kindness. He was truly loved and we are all so thankful for the, laughter and love and moments we shared. Nariman will always have a special place in our hearts.

As a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Burlington, Nariman was a long time choir member for over 30 years. Song, dance, theatre and art were true talents and interests of Nariman’s that brought him joy that he loved to share with others.

In his final moments Nariman comforted us with the gift of song to us singing, “The Prayer”.
I pray you’ll be our eyes and watch us where we go
And help us to be wise In times when we don’t know

Let this be our prayer when we lose our way
Lead us to a place, guide us with your grace
To a place where we’ll be safe.

Nariman will be watching over us all.

A very special thank you goes to the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at Joseph Brant Hospital. Their kindness, compassion and care for Nariman over the last few months during his hospital stays will never be forgotten.

Respecting Nariman’s wishes a private ceremony has taken place.
