In Memory of James Harvey Mitchell,

On February 25, 2017 James (Jim) Harvey Mitchell lost his year long battle with cancer passing away peacefully at home with his children. Jim, loving father of Danielle Graham (Tyler), Kevin (Alysha), and Peter (Amanda), proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren, Mason, Ryan, Ariel, Riley, Loghan, Brayden, Morgan, Kieran, and Hunter.  Predeceased by his father Gordon.  Survived by his mother Marjorie, brothers Doug (Donna Lee), Brian (Russell), Paul (Joan) and sister Donna Metzner (Raymond).

Jim graduated from Centennial College which launched his career as a computer programming engineer. Jim was driven by his entrepreneurial spirit and his drive to succeed. He successfully completed projects for companies like NASAcommunications, Chubb enterprise as well as oversaw the beginning stages of HWY 407 transponder systems. Jim also completed a wide range of his own ideas from different software programs to websites, including programs such as; DYNO software, VOIP phone products entitled Tiny Works and so much more.

While Jim achieved success throughout his life his biggest and most important success remained his loving family. Jim was always there for his family, no matter how many deadlines he had to meet. Whether it was spending endless hours in the office talking all night while he should be working, or out coaching soccer for all three of his kids, Jim was always there.  Spending time with immediate family was equally important. Weekly ventures to Magnetawan even if there was a mountain of work, we were all there together.  In his recent years he took care of his father Gordon and helped his mother Marjorie cope with the ongoing uphill challenges he faced. The Values and example of Gordon’s legacy he leaves behind is monumental and paramount to Jim’s loving character. Words can not describe how much he will be missed. His spirit and legacy will be shared forever and passed on for generations to come.

Dear family and friends of James Harvey Mitchell,

We are volunteers in the community and we would like to express our deepest sympathies for the loss of James.
Death is an enemy that no one wishes to experience but please find comfort in knowing that this is not what our creator intended for us. We want to live, and we want to enjoy life with those we love. It is only natural that we yearn to see our dead loved ones again.

The Bible teaches that most people who have died will be resurrected. Jesus promised that “those in the memorial tombs will…come out”. In harmony with God’s original purpose, those resurrected as humans will have the opportunity to live on a paradise earth. (Luke 23: 43) This promised future includes life for obedient humans. The Bible says: The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it.” –Psalms 37:29

Other scripture regarding this lovely promise includes: Job 14:14, 15; Luke 7:11-17; and Acts 24:15

As you look back on the memories you’ve shared with James, please know that the hope that the Bible promises are REAL. We are happy to share the following two short videos in the links below with you. It provides further understanding on why Jesus died for us and the wonderful hope we have of seeing our loved ones in the resurrection. We hope you enjoy them and if you have any further questions or need more answers from the bible please visit our website at https://www.jw.org/en/
