Michael Roy Yrcha
1943-2026
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Michael Yrcha on August 8, 2026. Mike passed away peacefully in the arms of his beloved partner, Marian Christie.
Born on May 28, 1943, in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, Mike lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, loyalty, and an unwavering love for his family.
Immediately after graduating from high school, Mike joined the Canadian Armed Forces, proudly serving his country. His commitment to service continued throughout his life as an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, where he supported veterans and his community. He was especially proud to participate in the National Poppy Campaign, honouring and preserving the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.
Following his military service, Mike began a successful career with Northern Telecom and Bell Canada, where he dedicated more than 35 years before retiring.
Despite recent health challenges, Mike remained resilient, grateful, and appreciative of the simple joys in life. He enjoyed meaningful conversations, reading, traveling, and staying connected with family and friends. He had a lifelong passion for sports, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays, but nothing meant more to him than his family.
Mike found tremendous joy in spending time with his son and grandchildren in Barrie and visiting his daughter and her family in Florida. He also cherished the time he spent with Marian’s four children, Tracy, Mark, Matt, and Tiffany, and took great pleasure in being a part of their lives.
Mike will be lovingly remembered by his partner, Marian Christie, who cared for him with extraordinary love and devotion until his final breath; his children and their spouses, Michael and Christine Yrcha; Darlene and Scott McKee; and Cindy Nasser; and his sister, Ann Fancy.
He leaves behind eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren: Issy Yrcha, Michael Jr. (MJ) Yrcha, Taylor Ramer, Madison Helmig, Ryan McKee, Avery McKee, Deana Nasser, Cohen Helmig, and Clover Ramer.
Mike’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his warm, affectionate hugs and the kindness he so freely shared with others.
We say goodbye to a remarkable man – a loving father and partner, a devoted grandfather, a proud veteran, and a genuinely kind soul. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and, most of all, through the family he loved so dearly.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Mike will be interred at Glendale Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Etobicoke, Ontario. Arrangements have been entrusted to Tranquility Burial & Cremation Services (Niagara) Inc. Condolences can be shared at tranquilitycremation.com
