Matheson, Beverley Ann

Beverley Ann Matheson

April 23, 1933 to April 4, 2024

passed away peacefully in her sleep.

She was born to Fred and Audrey Gifford in Winnipeg, Manitoba and had a younger sister Elaine.

She met and married (1956) her husband Lloyd Matheson (divorced/predeceased).  She went on to raise her family and work in the insurance industry in Winnipeg.  Bev had 3 sons: Scott, Brian, and Glenn.  Lloyd and Bev were transferred to the Toronto area in 1978 for Lloyd’s work and later went on to own and operate their own small manufacturing business in Toronto, which kept them busy. When Bev wasn’t working, she was entertaining, cooking, baking, sewing, babysitting Grandchildren and playing bridge, which she was extremely good at and fond of.  She especially enjoyed spending time with the Grandchildren.  After separating from Lloyd, she got a new job, a new car, and her life centered around travel, friends, and family as well as playing bridge. In retirement Beverley lived at St Mary’s Senior residence. For over 20 years there, it allowed her to make many new friends, get involved and play lots of cards, and live a happy and comfortable life.

Bev coped with dementia in recent years robbing her of many current memories.  Despite this she enjoyed her many friends, family as well as their pictures and videos, “in the moment”.  Thank goodness for new technology and wonderful caregivers at Extendicare Mississauga.

She leaves behind her 3 sons and their spouses, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.

She will be missed by all.

A family gathering/memorial will be held later on in the spring.

Donations can be made to Alzheimer/Dementia prevention in her name.
