Marilyn Marples

March 16, 1956 – April 8, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Marples, who died peacefully at Dorothy Ley Hospice on April 8, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Marilyn had Small Cell Lung Cancer and never stopped fighting.
She was the kind of person everyone loved, possessing a unique ability to touch people’s hearts with her warmth and quick wit. She spent her career in the hospitality industry, where her exceptional people skills and vibrant spirit made everyone feel welcome. Whether she was organizing local pool tournaments or generously offering her time and talents to help friends and family, she lived a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Marilyn is now reunited with her husband, Colin Keith Marples, and her brother, Ricky Asselstine, who predeceased her. She is survived by her mother, Florence Roode; her son, Shane Asselstine, and daughter, Natasha Asselstine; and her grandchildren, Dylan Harris, Amaya Asselstine, and Brody Asselstine. She is also survived by her six siblings: Gary Asselstine, Larry Rhoode, Judy Asselstine, Susan Arsenault, Willie Asselstine, and David Asselstine.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in Marilyn’s memory to the Dorothy Ley Hospice.
Those we loved don’t go away. They walk beside us everyday. Unseen, Unheard. But always near. So loved, so missed, so very dear.
