It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Hawkins, at the age of 57.
Born and raised in North York, Mark spent 31 years building his career at Canada Dry/Coca-Cola – a company where his dad had spent 37 years of his own career. It became an important part of Mark’s life, just as it had been for Larry.
He was a lifelong sports fan, specifically the Philadelphia Flyers, the Washington Redskins and Toronto Blue Jays. He enjoyed music and going to concerts, often sharing those experiences with friends.
Some of his happiest times were spent at the family cottage on Roberts Lake. He loved being out on the lake, fishing, relaxing and enjoying time with the people he cared about.
Mark had a quick smile, an easy laugh and an unmistakable sense of humour. He loved making people laugh, and he always seemed to have another outrageous story to tell – particularly about something that had happened at work.
He was never shy about sharing his opinion, particularly when he was convinced he was right. These stories, told with his own unique style, were part of what made him so memorable.
He will be deeply missed by his mother Helen, his sister, Lori and Robert, nephews Alex and Nicholas, aunts Rita Kunc and Susan Schnier, as well as by the many friends and colleagues.
He was predeceased by his father, Larry Hawkins, grandparents Violet and Lawrence Hawkins and Donalda and Jim Kelly.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to gather together to remember and celebrate Mark’s life.
Visitation: Thursday, September 10th, from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
Celebration of Life: Friday, September 11th at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities, in Mark’s memory.
He will be greatly missed, and forever remembered with love and laughter.

For nearly 38 years, you were not only a trusted friend and coworker to our family, but someone who truly became part of our lives. From the Canada Dry days at Downsview to the transition to Coca-Cola Brampton, together we worked side by side, with Tony and Michael, through so many years, challenges, and memories. Beyond work, our families grew together – helping one another move into homes, sharing countless concert events, laughter, celebrations, and watching our families grow through the years. It’s hard to put 25+ years of friendship into words.
Mark, you were never one to shy away from sharing your opinion, you were always pretty certain of it! But you were also humble enough to come back a day or two later, after doing a little research, and say, “Okay… you were right.”
There were concerts where we spent half the night looking to find each other again before the night was over. You were the wanderer type 🙂 So much of our time together was spent in the garage laughing, eating wings, telling stories, listening to music, pop-quiz trivia, and of course watching football, soccer and UFC. Sometimes it wasn’t even about what we were doing. It was just being there. And somehow, Christina, who takes very little BS from anyone, always seemed to take a little extra from you. She’s already missing that special banter between the two of you more than words can say. This one is hard. We’re sad, and it still doesn’t quite feel real. But there’s comfort in knowing you’re resting in peace.
The garage just won’t be the same without you. Rest easy, buddy. We love you, and we miss you more than you know ❤️
