In Loving Memory of Marianne Margaret Voogt
“No one is finally dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away… the span of someone’s life is only the core of their actual existence.” ― Sir Terry Pratchett
Marianne Margaret Voogt was welcomed into this world by Jacob and Mary Voogt in Halifax on July 27, 1957 and departed on September 26, 2026 in Brantford hospital with loved ones at her side. Marianne was the much beloved wife of Brian Martin, mother of Daniel Stewart-Martin (Brynne) and mother-in-law to Amy, Godmother to Christopher. She was the eldest sister of Theresa, Virginia (Reg), Hugh (Sue), Elizabeth (James), Michelle (Rob), and Ed (Sharron). She also leaves behind numerous nieces and
nephews who will miss her dearly. We will miss the family picnics and other celebrations that she hosted in her magical garden that was full of beautiful plants, a pond, fish, and the occasional frog.
Marianne worked for many years as a computing specialist at PWC but loved her most recent job driving a bus for Brantford Transit, where she enjoyed daily greetings with her many regular passengers. Those of you who know her also knew she had no time for the “f-tard” and “a$$hat” drivers who would make driving a more challenging experience.
She leaves behind her beloved Ziggy, and will meet Faye, Dezzie, Coda, Barrett, and Bowie at the rainbow bridge. Marianne spent many years volunteering with obedience training and working retriever trials and was a dedicated member of the Hamilton Dog
Owners Club and the Labrador Owners club and active volunteer for Labrador Life Line and St John Ambulance Therapy Dogs.
Other pastimes included reading, quilting, reading, knitting, reading, gardening, jewelry making, and reading. When she put her books down, guests could count on delicious baked goods to accompany her welcoming smile, warm hugs and coffee that were
always on offer if they were to step through her always open door.
A Celebration of Life will be held October 18, 2026 at Oakland Community Center (3 King St N, Oakland) from 1 to 4pm. Please consider wearing jeans and your favorite t-shirt.
If you wish to make a donation in memory of Marianne, please consider Labrador Life Line, St John Ambulance Therapy Dogs, or your local SPCA.
