Mabel Jacqueline (“Jacky”) Otway

May 31, 1932 – August 7, 2023

It is with heavy hearts and deepest sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved mother on Monday, August 7, 2023 at the Humber Reactivation Care Centre in North York.

Mom passed away peacefully with her children at her side. She was the cherished mother of Linda (Christian), Doreen (Harald), and Paul (Kelly), and the proud grandmother of Matthew, Nicholas, Joshua, Jamie, Julian, Cara, and Clarke. Jacky was the loving sister of Elsa and Betty, and was predeceased by her brother Eddie. Aunty Jacky was adored by her many nieces and nephews. Mom was fun-loving, loved to travel, and made friends with ease. She had many close friendships that lasted for decades. She instilled in her children a sense of integrity and kindness, and gave us unconditional love and support throughout our lives.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 2nd at 11 a.m. at the Church of Christ the King, 475 Rathburn Road, Etobicoke. For those unable to attend the service, you can watch it live streamed on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. We ask that you wear a pop of yellow, Jacky’s favourite colour, to honour her memory. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in mom’s memory be made to the Church of Christ the King. The following link will become live at that time: https://youtube.com/live/N_88UGDzGPQ?feature=share

For those unable to watch the live stream, the service will be available on the following link afterward: https://www.christthekingetobicoke.ca/onlineservices/

Dear Linda, Doreen, Paul, and the rest of the family,
we are so sad at the passing of our dear Jacky and dear “Mrs. O”. Jacky was a kind, loving, and loyal friend of over 40yrs and we adored her. She was always so much fun to be with and we will cherish the memories that we have of her as a neighbour and as a wonderful friend to Dina. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
