LUNDY, Carolyn Jean

Lundy, Carolyn Jean, born Friday October 26, 1956
On Thursday, February 5, 2015, in the tranquility of her home, and embraced by her loving husband Pat and her devoted son Peter, Carolyn passed peacefully from this life into eternal life where she was received by her son Steven who predeceased her in 2008.
Dear sister of Donna (Ward) Cescon and her husband Mel of Waterloo, and Robert Ward and his wife Luisa of Toronto. Dear friend of Carol Anne Doughty (Brian), Mila Reusser (Mark) and Carmelina Funnell (Larry). Always energetic, enthusiastic and fun-loving Aunt of Jonathan (Kelly), David (Sarah), Joseph (Erin) and Paul (Beth), and Matthew and David. Special Aunt to Matt, Jocelyn, and Laura; Jilienne, Caitiejo, Jacob, and Jesse; Mark and Christina. Cherished Great Aunt and faith-filled Godmother. Sister-in-law to Jim Lundy (MaryAnn) of London, and Michael Lundy of Tillsonburg.
Carolyn spent her life in loving and gentle service to her family, to her friends, and to the many she met in her life’s work as a Healer: first as a Public Health Nurse, and then as a Registered Massage Therapist. Carolyn was a leader in her faith community. Her infectious laughter and her warm heart put everyone she met at ease. Her mischievous and loving smile and sparkling blue eyes could always surprise and comfort.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, 714 King Street West Hamilton, Ontario at 11AM, on Saturday February 7, 2015. Family and friends are encouraged to write their memories of Carolyn in a letter that can be left with the family during the reception in the parish hall (or delivered by Carolyn’s famous “snail mail”). Reception will take place immediately after the service.
Special thanks to Dr. Laurie Elit and her colleagues and nursing staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, to the Outreach Team of the Stedman Community Hospice where Carolyn served as a volunteer for 10 years, and to the many dedicated staff of the Brant Branch Community Care Access Team, the VON nurses and Peggy. Thanks also to the many friends and relatives who accompanied Carolyn on her September 2014 Walk for Ovarian Cancer, to those who sent wishes of support during her illness, to Maureen, Rose and Andrea and to her very dear friends Carol Anne and Mila who nursed her at her bedside. We extend heartfelt gratitude to Very Reverend Monsignor Edward Sheridan who is truly a shepherd to his sheep.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Ovarian Cancer Canada may be arranged at http://www.ovariancanada.org
