“Looking Through Your Eyes” performed by LeAnn Rimes
Tell me what do you see
Just close your eyes
And describe it to me
The heavens are sparkling
With starlight tonight
That’s what I see
Through your eyes
I see the heavens
Each time that you smile
I hear your heartbeat
Just go on for miles
And suddenly I know
My life is worth while
That’s what I see
Through your eyes
[Chorus:]
Here in the night
I see the sun
Here in the dark
Our two hearts are one
It’s out of our hands
We can’t stop what we have begun
And love just took me by surprise
Looking through your eyes
I look at myself
And instead I see us
Whoever I am now
It feels like enough
And I see a girl
Who is learning to trust
That’s who I see through your eyes
[Chorus]
And there are some things we don’t know
Sometimes a heart just needs to go
And there is so much I’ll remember
Underneath the open sky with you forever
[Chorus]
A part of an animated film’s soundtrack and her third album, LeAnn Rimes’ “Looking Through Your Eyes” was released on the early part of March 1998. It was first serviced as the lead single of the soundtrack for “Quest of Camelot”, an animated feature that was released on the same year. A few months later, the track was also seen on Rimes’ third album called “Sitting on the top of the World”. The song remains as one of the singer’s most popular tunes. Lyrically, “Looking Through Your Eyes” is a song about two lovers and their intense feeling of love and admiration to each other. Rimes sings through each lyric depicting how their love has affected them in the most beautiful way possible. During the song, it is described how love changes the perspective of a person. The world becomes more beautiful, stars shine brighter, the night becomes less frightful, and life generally becomes a whole lot better when you have found and you are with the one you love. The power of love is so immense that it took them by surprise and it was they see as they look through each other’s eyes. The uplifting and reinforcing depiction of love totally fits and adds a more romantic mood to the film as well as the story between the main characters.
With the positive and loving theme that surrounds the song, it comes as no surprise that “Looking Through Your Eyes” became a top pick for songs to be played during cremation services. It serves as a testament of undying love to that person who has passed away. The song reminds them of how much love was there and will be in their hearts although they may be apart now. With the lyrical content, people during such events are calmed down and are helped to have a more positive perspective on such unfortunate even. “Looking Through Your Eyes” helps people who have been departed by the special someone move on in such a way that the love that they have for them will remain until the end of time.
